I switched my setup last night. I now have two rods, three wand/handguns, and a bow.

For now, since I want to get Foie to 21 and since Resta levels so slow, I have Foie and Resta and each of the wands. I have all of my current technics on each of the rods (except for Foie): dambarta, rafoie, resta, diga. The rods look really cool and have more PP, like you all said, though are a bit slower. The bow is very cool. I got the dark PA for it (forget the name). So now I have some way to do each type of damage except light.

Is light something I should work on soon, or can I hold off on that area do you think?

Its funny, just two days ago I was wasting two slots on sabers (/facepalm) and had no rods and no guns. Now I think I have a pretty decent beginner FO set up. Anyway, I'm enjoying it, and I suppose that's the point. I'm really thankful for all the advice you all have given me in this topic. Someday when my noobishness isn't so tragic maybe some of us can link up and play.

Just remember that despite what others may say there is no wrong way to be a force. The idea is that you can play however you want. Basically just experiment and find out what works for you, create your own method. Also until you get to fortetecher techs are capped at 20 and once you cap a PA there isn't really a point to using it so you might want to try another tech for a while probably Diga. Also there are no Light techs that damage yet. Not sure when we are going to get Regrants either which is the only light tech that does damage.

Oh - yeah, the limit is 20. Cool, gettin' real close on Foie. Diga prolly will be next focus.

Thanks for the good words, PMB960.

And believe me: I hear ya - the point IS to have fun. I just like to get insight from the experts when starting something new. Playing as a FO is a lot more involved than playing a HU, so its cool to hear what you all suggest and have been through. Thanks again!

From the five levels of FO that I had to earn getting to a Protranser, I tried out almost all the TECHNICs that were available at the time of release and I found that the RA TECHNICs were great that they could attack from a decent range. Sort of like a distant sword really, it really helps you out as a female Newman to stay out of danger.

Now that I have enough money, I started up a new character and made him a Force. I got all the TECHNICs that I wanted and was true to the PSO TECHNICs so I got all the basic TECHNICs, Gi TECHNICs and the Ra TECHNICs, all the buffing TECHNICs, all the debuffing TECHNICs and the restorative TECHNICs. Got to Linear Line, tried using the TECHNICs and whoah... WHat a difference from a Protranser 10 it is...

All the simple TECHNICs are great for dealing damage but leave you open to attack from other enemies. The Gi TECHNICs force you to get close and within attacking range of enemies (I think they hit six targets) but at least they stun to an extent so you can continually cast them. Ra TECHNICs are great for hitting from afar like I said earlier but... If there's more than three enemies, the other's will most likely get you.

All in all, I've found that the Ra TECHNICs to be the safest way to attack a large group of enemies while slowly backing off, simple TECHNICs for single enemies or enemies with multiple hit points (since all TECHNICs will only hit one part of the body of an enemy) and the Gi TECHNICs are a real oddity for me. They seem to be at their most powerful at Lv. 30 and yet you're also putting yourself at a great risk putting yourself so close to the enemies. It's almost as bad as the debuffing TECHNICs. If it weren't for the Wwartecher class, I'd say they were a real no-no for Fortetechers unless you were a Cast or a Beast so you can actualy TAKE hits.

I'm not entirely sure on the validity of the Damu TECHNICs since I'm so old fashioned and wanting to SEE what's going on around me. I'm sorry to all TECHNIC users out there who have Dambarta at Lv. 21 or over but when you use it, I can't see anything on my screen. I guess this is your way of getting back when HUs use skills that knock everythign flying everywhere but as a Protranser, I can't see where I'm laying my traps! (Also, a Fortetecher using Dambarta close to a Jarba or a Kamatoze using Dambarta gets really confusing...
