Hi all, new to the game of PSU, at this point want to get myself settled in with the offline game and i have a few questions about extra mode:

Can anyone explain to me how the type level works, at the end of missions you see this table that shows different weapons and im trying to understand what it all means, how do i know when certain weapon types will be available to me ie. im level 20 but i cant buy any knuckle weapons yet, when will i be able to? And how do i get access to more PA, ive read you get them from the NPCs, but how exactly i cant talk to them in extra mode

Does all this have to do with what you have done in story mode ie. you cant do/get things in extra mode until it has been done in Story Mode?

the more chapters you do in story mode, the more things you unlock in story mode and Extra mode.

So beat Story mode to unlock everything.

Oh, and some PA's can only be obtained if you have a certain character in your party and your in a certain mission.

Extra PA's: S-Rank a mission with the npc that has the PA you want, might need to do this multiple times...

Type Levels and weapons: On extra mode you only have 3 types and each type has a specific weapon list, so if you can't use knuckles you'll have to change types to hunter, and if you are a hunter you're doing something wrong...

Character levels and type levels are seperate as xp helps character levels and mp or mission points level your type. The better the mission rank, the more mp you recieve. S-Ranking a mission gains you max mp and getting a c gets you zero mo. You can also get items, weapons, techs and of coarse as mentioned before, PA's for S-Ranking a mission....

Since we are in the topic of Extra mode, how the heck do I find S rank Rods for my force?

The only thing I could get is an 8* Granrod or whatever, and I had to buy the Mat and synth the darn thing.

Thanks Kiku and XDeviousX, makes more sense now, got the knuckles too, had to do with getting past chapter 6 in Story Mode, now some more decent weapons are available and PAs

FUFME i read that u cant get s rank rods offline in a thread on here somewhere?

also i hear all these Fighgunner, fortegunner stuff and i have no idea what thats all about im using a Cast mostly using melee weapons what does that make me?

Those are all expert classes, only available online. Weapon selection per type for online characters are way more restricted (You can use wands as a hunter offline, but online, only forces can)

Oh, and in any case you are still wondering what those weapon icons mean, they show you up to what type of rank you can use of a weapon. Online mode, the best weapons you can use are B rank weapons, so if you want to use A and S rank weapons, you will HAVE to change to one of the expert classes.
