I have this going at the official boards as well:
http://boards2.sega.com/psu_board/viewtopic.php?t=30177
I figure that it would be best to get people from both forums.

Rulez:
-This will be an eight person tournament.
-After the tournament begins, you have three days to battle your opponent in the current round. If the battle does not occur, I will either pick a winner myself and/or pick whoever has proven to be more active.
-3 vs. 3 Set 50 battles only
-No legendaries allowed. I am aware that some legendaries suck, but I do not care.
-You can NOT use the same two hold items
-You can NOT use the same two exact pokemon types. You may use a same type if the dual type is different. EX: Fighting and Fighting/Ground
-No use of moves that induce sleep are allowed
-The winner gets a choice band

Choice Band:
If you use an attack move, power up that move by 1.5 . The attacking pokemon is then unable to use a different move.

1. Kamica - 4381-8559-0744
2. Beatrice - 0215-7344-4280
3. Giovani - 2878-6067-1929
4. Amy - 0258-6773-0951
5. Pheromone - 5369-6880-5374
6. Tycho - 0129-7902-7509
7. SatanV1 - 2062 5653 5460
8. Zael - 4381 8454 5468

First Round Matches:
Beatrice vs. Amy
SatanV1 vs. Kamica
Pheromone vs. Zael
Giovani vs. Tycho

Second Round Participants:
1. SatanV1
2. Amy
3. Zael
4. Tycho

Second Round Matches:
1. Tycho vs. SatanV1

2. Amy vs. Zael

THE FINAL MATCH
Tycho vs. Zael

Either use this topic or use private messages to arrange the meeting time for your matchups. Good luck!

Edit: Finalizing the rules. What you see now will not change.

Are there actual reasons for all these rules... I don't see any so I'm curious if there are any kind of glitches or what not associated with them...If there is none then I really don't see any reason for them.

I'm just curious as the only reason allowed in the fighting game scene for banning something is because there is huge power difference or a game breaking glitch...none of the rules seem to encompass these...

Yeah, no offense, but DT is easy to beat, Aerial Ace and Aura Sphere are two moves I can name right off the top of my head that can beat a DTer, and Haze, Roar, or Whirlwind will shut it down too. Sleep clause I can understand, because having all your pokes taking a nap while the opponent sweeps is not cool, but there are ways around sleep as well. No legendaries is weak too, I use a Latios on my team, that's not uber.

I think it's cool that you're running this, but my team is nowhere near ready for any kinda competitive battling, so maybe I'll get in on the next one.

The reason for the first two rules is variation

The reason for the sleep clause is so that the game doesn't turn purely into a game of luck.

Essentially, the person who has put the most thought into their team will be the winner. I would like to think that mostly anybody who has the game would easily be able to meet the restrictions. These restrictions were not added for my benefit. I fully expect to lose because none of my pokemon are EV trained. The point of the tournament is to have a fun pokemon battle. If I can get that of any person I might face, than the loss of a choice band would be fully worth it.

I decided to allow the move double team. The move is only effective on pokemon that can recover HP. I just hope that no one will attempt to use such a cheap combination.

i meant more so in general as i see ppl with a lot of rules... i can understand a few as i have had 6 pokemon put to sleep before and just had to wait, but a lot of the rules just seem unneeded... such as banning legendaries... to me they are just another pokemon... banning on type...some like to have themes and if you have an all fire time hey thats you fault for getting knocked out by a single water pokemon.

I personally choose pokemon based on look mostly and whether i think the move could be cool when i think about how it would look visually...not on type or anything like that for the most part... i do look at type and stats, but almost always as a least important thing...

Yeah, I can't believe these rulesets, you won't allow ANY type of sleep attack? You know how many pokemon are eliminated right off the bat?

How is that okay, but the hax no skill, move like Double Team is allowed?

Well whatever, Idk, I'm in this tourney anyway just for the sake of supporting PSU Pokemon tourneys. (My FC is on the other thread/forum)
