Grad's over and everyone's realizing... we will all be leaving soon... FUCK I don't want to, highschool just seems so good right now, I don't want to leave. Was it like this for everyone? How did you feel at the end of highschool?
I just want to stop things now, before I lose everyone. I hope these last 2 months of summer are very, veery long... I'm going to miss the boat with a girl, I'm going to lose many friends and I'm going to lose more of my inosense to the world outside Yellowknife. God, I want tthings to stop, right this second.
So again, How did you feel at the end of highschool?

You'll have to face the reality that you will lose contact with about 98% of the people you know in high school.
Just a stepping stone into adulthood, everyone went through it.

Yeah, I dealt with it really hard. There was this one girl that I had a huge crush on, and the thought of never seeing her ever again was just too much for me to bear, but I overcame it. And when you go to college, you'll probably make new friends, and you'll like it more than high school, trust me when I tell you that college is better than high school. As for that girl, yeah, I got over her and even found a new crush, as you can read more about in my rants. But yeah, not being able to see the friends you've bonded with over the years is gonna be something that'll be painful, but its just a stepping stone like that other guy said, and you'll get over it, and you'll deal with more of this kind of thing in the later years of the future.

It was a good time for me...as I knew college/university would be 10x better than high school. I only kept in contact with 2 or 3 people for a few years after high school...then they gradually faded away from my life. The people I met in university were great, and my roommate(and his girl that would eventually become his wife) became my closest friends; we still keep in touch now...I now have the honor of being "godfather" to his first son.
Anyway, don't sweat it at all, because college/university = the Best. Really, words don't even give an accurate description. Let's just say that those 4(or more) years will be quite an interesting series of "adventures" and hilarious situations.

Learn in the future to keep tabs on them. If you asked for phone numbers, emails and the like you could keep contact with them.
Or sometimes you'll never expect who'd you find in College :]

it's a lot easier to leave if you never made too many friends to begin with. I only have one year left, but I already know I'll only be talking with about three people, post-highschool.
go me.
one less tie made is one less tie severed when most are cut.
then again, most of the people I could deal with were then-junior/seniors, and have already graduated. not much of my social life remains. go me.

It was more of a shock to me to get out in the workplace right away. Actually, I was working a full time job as well as going to school full time - so the transition was fairly smooth. Still, it's a bit of a shock to be thrown into the real world like that. You're still used to being around people your own age all the time, with the only adults being authority figures - not close friends. In the workplace, you're thrown in with all age groups - from 18 to 68, and a lot of those people will become good friends of yours. You might even end up in a position of authority over some of those people who are twice your age.
Anyhow, as much as it "hurts" right now - you'll quickly grow past the highschool phase and adapt.. and most of those people you're tight with now, you won't give a shit about again until you see them at a reunion several years down the line.

It's sad-some people I'm trying to make friends with are graduating this year, and I'm not.
Oh well, they don't live that far away from me, and I have other ways to keep in touch.
Miss me?
