This is pretty similar to Raine's topic about the little things you hate in games, except...this is kinda the opposite. What little things that are common in games continue to please you even when they're nothing new? What little things do certain games have that may SEEM insignificant but actually make the game so much better? What little things do a few games have that need to be done more often? Also, don't be afraid to mention good things that seem to specifically address the "little things you hate".
I'll start off light on this one for now...
Not having any load times at all (or they're all cleverly hidden so it never seems like you have to wait for loading), except for menu-related shit (understandable) and when you start up the gaming session. Lack of loading times makes the world feel much more coherent and adds to immersion. Sadly, I can only recall seeing this in the King's Field games.
Being able to play as a guy with LONG hair. I don't mean shoulder-length. That's short. I mean halfway down the back, perhaps down to the ass or longer. This is of course a much bigger issue when character creation is involved, but if we're dealing with premade characters, it's not so important.
Creative, somewhat unique status effects. For instance, Monster Hunter 2 has "stinky" status that results when you're farted on or hit by konga dung. You're unable to use healing items due to the smell (it's like some games' poison, but MH already had a usual life-sapping poison). Sadly, it's easily curable by deodorant and thus adds no strategic value whatsoever. MH2 also has "snowman" status where you're covered in snow. Unlike the usual freeze status, you're able to move around---it's just like carrying around a huge stone and being unable to attack. Not curable by items, but getting hit takes the snow off. This status only occurs in the Mountains where there's snow to get covered by.
When a game doesn't need a damn story and KNOWS that so it doesn't even try! Monster Hunter again comes to mind.
An intelligently-made world that can actually feel like a world and even have its own distinctive culture(s). This can often reduce the need for a story, so it's especially nice to have in an online RPG. Right now, only Monster Hunter and Mabinogi come to my mind.

Small offhand comments that break the fourth wall and acknowledge the player's presence. Which is why I love Deadpool, and the ending of No More Heroes.
Unlimited save slots. VERY few games do this nowadays...
Menus that are extremely quick to navigate through, without having to wait for a fade or an animation to finish.
Sound test menu. Very few modern games do this nowadays as well...

yes. i agree. as long as you're talking "world" as in scenery, and not "world" as in "cultures" of elves and little creatures that nobody cares about running around. if they put the elves on a BEACH, or on top of a MOUNTAIN that is so high, it overlooks the rest of the world, or the great plains in AFRICA... then LOAD ME FULL OF ELVES

Well since in the last topic I mentioned Kingdom Hearts lets list something I like, LIKE how they added the Reaction Commands into the battles in KHII. The entire battle mechanics are kinda button mashy regardless but by adding that it gave it some style and made it more fun. It's nice to see developers tweaking and improving things in the sequels.
DYNAMIC EDIT: I should maybe learn how to spell.

Music/Sfx test, debug stuff, minigames, lots of extras(Sonic Wild Fire has so many. Music, concept art, test movies, even wacky dev team movie!), lots of saves, save just about any place(Shadow Run). Much more as well.
Edit: Betas/protos and demos too.

Ok Jife here are some of mines
1. Nothing I love more is when games have good music/sound in them. (Silent hill 2 comes to mind)
2. Anything that's not overly linear, like going from point A to B in the entire game! Instead I wanna see more games that have go from point A to either your choice of B, C, or D. Kind of like Castlevania SOTN.
3. Good character customization and unlockable outfits. Nothing wrong with liking to change your look.
4. A difficulty option, or a least an unlockable one.
5. A day/night effect, cause it's awesome.
6. Multiple endings,
All I got for now.
My wanted games of 2013:
Last of Us(PS3), Bioshock Inifinte(PS3), Hyperdimension Neptunia V(PS3), Ys Celceta(Vita), Beyond: Two Souls(PS3), Legend of Heroes:Sen no Kiseki (PS3, JP version)

Being able to play your character more-or-less how you want, without having to constantly struggle against the game engine (particularly where your play style affects what character "classes" or other things you can choose). Here, I'm referring to D&D-style RPGs' "alignment shifts."
NWN1 wasn't too bad about them: many things gave your good or evil points, but generally weren't the same things as the few that gave you law or chaos points, so if you were trying to cling to chaotic good or lawful evil, you weren't generally given any crap.
NWN2, however, was constructed such that the story cans chaos points with evil points and good points with law points, making the game's story overbearing and completely not fun trying to play a good warlock (chaotic-only class added for that game), or an evil monk (lawful-only class).

Jump button with a nice SFX kicker to it.
Could be the worst game in the world but with that jump button and a nice sound effect ring to it, it'd probably sell way too many and be played way too long; doubly so since nobody can complain the game does not have a jump button.
-
The calm music in a safe house/save room area, away from all the hubbub of the rest of the game, even better if its drastically different outside the save room with hectic pace/events.

[*]good music[*]good story line / alternate endings[*]lots of customation (looks, classes, race, etc.)[*]unrealistic stuff in "realistic games" (just to laugh at it. like throwing a garbage bin to sea and watching it float )
