If you don't think the event is a good idea, then just don't go. Stay at White Beast.
I think it's nice that the GMs are at least TRYING to get the community to do something other than White Beast. Yeah, these missions have been spammed to death in the past, but isn't it nice to get away from White Beast for a while?
