lol at posts. Maybe its me, but I see a paradox here. Most people say to play how you like for the most part (which I agree.)
But then you have some people who get mad, when you don't do things right. (huh?)
Maybe its one of those things that can't be answered in the way I imagined it would. I mean what people seem to want from a player is "commom sense." And there's no problem with wanting that in a party.
I dunno. But it doesn't bother me either. I play how I feel like playing and at the same time, I do what I can to support my party. I was just wondering if I could find what people expect in a party member and then to put it out there... so that you don't end up pissing someone off without knowing why.
But in the end, it's simple: Use common sense. I can go with that. Besides, I never got complaints about how I play in a party and I do randoms all the time.
Oh well, you know what they say, Curiousity Kills the Cat.
Real Heroes do not fight wars. They are born to prevent them.

Sorry for the horrible quality!

The thing is that i have got a feeling that the PT class for example is all about traps and using axe move Jabroga or spear move Majara..kinda like FF but with traps rofl.
The thing is when i try out PT class, i donīt use axes and i donīt use majara with my spear if itīs not an very hard mission. Sword is much more fun.
And.. i prefer to do things my way and help out with my traps when needed, and that works almost always.
Iīm not all about numbers, and if i were i would go FF.
Fun is what i pay for, not work. :P

BIGGIE's Personal Line of THinking Toward Classes
Fortefighter: Use your weapons pallet to it's fullest extent. You can have a bunch of really nice combos of weapons even though most "noobs" jsut go straight for Majarra and Jabroga. While those are both good skills, they're a techer/gunner's nightmare to try and hit something.
Make sure you're being the most useful you can be as a fighter while not hampering the usefulness of the party.
Fighgunner: The whole thing is italicized because you can do both! Make use of your awesome equip spread and don't be the tornado-spamming retard of the party. While Tornado dance is a nice skill and has it's uses there are better skills to use when in a party/ fighting mobs rather than a large multi-part enemy. Again: Make sure you're being the most useful you can be as a fighter while not hampering the usefulness of the party.
Acrofighter: SAme as #1 and #2
Fortegunner: You are the ultimate in crowd control. The only thing that can argue you as a crowd control specialist is a Jabroga spamming, Majarra-riding retard with little regard to the party. FG has a great spread of High element, High SE, High Dmg nasty at their hands if used well.
You should be dealing Dmg proportional to the FF and FT of the group. (My opinion of Dmg dealers FF, FG, FT sorry everyone else...)
You are a supportive damage dealer.
Guntecher: Italicized because there are many ways to go with this one. Cast (or even Beast) GTs do great damage with their guns at the loss of dmg with their techs. If you are one of these power yourself up and go to town with your great gun selection.
As a Human or Newman you're more of a hybrid Techslinger. Your techs come out pretty decent and your damage doesn't suffer to poorly on your bullets, making you the ultimate in ranged offense.
Fortetecher: One word. BOOM. That's all you should be expected to do. High end FTs are amazing damage to groups of enemies and even better dmg vs. 1 target. If Techs hit multiple body segments this would outdamage any other class hands down.
You're the big ugly Tech damage. While your buffs would be great, your damage is good enough. Just because you're a techer doesn't mean you're a NURSE. Blow it all up and let the Holy Light sort it out.
Acrotecher: Italicized because it's Acro TECHER not Acrobuffer. Lv40 support is nice, but show me a character who does NOTHING but support. As an acrotecher your speed with techs and weapons (yes I said it. weapons!) make you a fast lethal barrage of damage.
I agree that if you got such great buffs then use them, but you're not a nurse. Do your own thing.
Wartecher: A class I've never played and wanted to. A mediocre-looking class with a wonderful weapon spread. once this class hits Lv30 support there's nothing this class can't do well. If you don't use it ALL, then pick another class really cause you're wasting talent.
Edited: Protranser: Wow, how can I forget this one. this is simple. See FF and FG. Your ATP and ATA may be gimp compared to them but you're their little cousin. And with those homemade explosives you make in the backyard you certainly hold your own as well.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All "Fighter" Classes: If you melee at all you are a "fighter" class. I can't say it enough. QUIT THROWING ENEMIES AROUND. IF YOU KEEP DOING IT THEN THERE'S NO WONDER WHY THE TECHER DOESN'T HEAL OR BUFF YOU!
All "Gunner" Classes: If you use guns at all you are a "Gunner" class. Make use of your weapons. Nothing urks me more than a gunner standing there waiting for his weapons to charge because he/she doesn't have a striking weapon and is out of charges.
All "Techer" Classes: If you use techniques you are a "Techer" class. (Even you WT). It's not your job to heal/buff others, but it is nice. If you're hurt and can stand to do so without dying, walk over to the group before you heal. If you buff yourself and you see someone else needs it, go buff them as well (if they don't mind it.) If you see someone else buffing the party, check their buff levels before you buff over them, and ask them if they mind. It's only common courtesy.
All Classes: Everyone, even Hunter/Ranger/Force. YOU HAVE ITEMS. Just because you aren't a techer it doesn't mean you can't heal/remedy/buff yourself. It also doesn't mean you can't Heal/remedy the party as well!
USE YOUR ITEMS FIRST. DON'T EXPECT THE TECHER TO DO IT.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is all my line of thinking. Criticize me if you like, but my ideals are my own and are to be taken with a grain of salt :P
to Op: Hope this is helpful for you Ken. I've seen you party with Autumn before and I think you do great.

i'm mostly with BIGGIE's line of thinking
talking about myself.. i love to play fighgunner. i started to play it because of the initial S rank selection, and always used only the S rank weps/skills of my job. just because.. i like it.. i like the style of the weps and i like to play with this style, even if some A rank could be powerful. yeah.. majarra.. (oh well days ago i maxed majarra too because i had no more useful skill to level up >_>)
this was the melee part.. but since i'm fighGUNNER i also love my xbow and i can't immagine to play a guardian type without it. also twin handguns are essential for flying enemies and bosses. machinegun are cool. i use them too but yeah, i prefer xbows.
so.. i use the S melee weapons (and i have all skill for them to 40.. yeah.. before the pa rebalance..) because like i said, i like the style of em and to play with my style (like i use yellow badge because i like to never miss and block, but also because the color fit my char xD )
after all if i wanted to be uber powerful and use uber devastating and easy to use majarra and jarboga.. i may have made a fortefighter.. i played it.. but even if it can solo faster, i find it so boring and i prefer go with something else..
last thing. like biggie said, use your items. easiest way to learn how to survive (but also keep the party/npc alive) is play solo in some dificult area. after some runs.. you will never find the need of a healer again xD

to play a class right is to do whatever you want with it - it is a game and meant to be fun
it is not designed for some elitist to pass judgement on - if that is what they want you to do, tell them to go change their class and do it themselves
yes, you wanna help youir party, but i'm a firm believer that "you cannot please all the people all the time so you might as well please yourself"

I only have 1 general rule for all guardian types:
Take advantage and abuse everything at your disposal, and learn how/when/where to use it all properly.
You'll be fine if you follow that guideline.
Also, while something like a Cast FT will never be able to reach max statistic potential, it doesn't mean the player behind the wheel isn't proficient. There is a point though (that I also arrived at playing Human FT), that you WILL WANT those stat boosts. Once AOI came around, I just transfered my techs off my former main to my newman ho. I enjoyed all the boosts so much, she's my absolute favorite character to play on now.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is a good player can play any race/type combo, and be effective. However if they are playing a mix, they may get sick of the stat disadvantages eventually, and go pure.

One of the first people I meet on the game was a Beast FT (who ran with a cast FT). He stayed a Beast FT until AotI came out, then he switched to Wartecher.

While there isn't one correct way to play a class, each class does offer a strength that can help a party out. I feel that if you are a class that can tech, you should buff and heal the party as needed. This is something that you can bring to the party to help them out. If you are a gunner class, help the party out with status effects to the best of your ability.
What I can't stand are people who refuse to use weapons/skills that their class can use. For example, FTs who don't heal/buff; you don't have to be a heal-bot, but you should use this skill to your advantage. Also, Fighgunners who don't use the "gunner" part of their name. I understand you like double sabers, but pull out a ranged weapon against things that are melee resitant.
Is it too much to ask a class to help out as much as they possilby can?

lol yes, if it conflicts with someone's "style"... it's more important to play at your own pace in a way you enjoy than playing to the strengths of the guardian type you've picked for your character.
Maybe their style is to Dus Majarra everything because there's some witch-girl or genie-dude concept going on. Even as a Fortetecher. That's like prime magician stuff right? After all Harry Potter flies around on a broom instead of throwing fireballs at everybody. He knows Diga though I'm pretty sure.
Or you know, maybe your character was a boy adopted by a convent of nuns. He's full of holy light so you use Regrant as your main attack as an acrotecher. That's some cool style right there. You could easily have a dozen awesome quotes to use all the time with it. "Come back here, I'm not done with you yet!!" see?

LOL! I'm going to start a character that is a member of PETA. He joins a party with no weapons in the pallette and preaches hate to everyone who slays an Olgohmon or picks up Ollaka Meat. One of my sayings will be "God INTENDED these creatures to be mad!!" and "YOU are the ones who are coming into THEIR territory!!! Let them be!!!"
