Tired of procrastinating at school and other things... -
03-23-2009, 04:07 PM
Sort of rant, and maybe a note of me trying to get serious with life and do better.
I'm tired of leaving school work until the last minute and then struggling to keep up. I wonder, why do I do things like that? Can't I be strong and do things in a better way? Or is there a way I can do things but it would be totally random and I wouldn't know until it just happened?
I'm tired of not having a job now, and that even worse the economy isn't so good. I'd wish I could get a job as a second change, don't I deserve a second chance so I can man up and not have to put up with my parents always yelling at me for not having a job at this age? Gah...
I also am a mess, my allergies are acting up, and I don't even EXACTLY know what I'm exactly allergic to. Sure I had that test that tells me everything I'm allergic too, but that was taken when I was a child, and all I know I am allergic to is pollen, many other things. My skin is sensitive, and gets itcchy. What do I do? I SCRATCH.
I'm tired of not having a girlfriend, but its not all too bad... Thankfully for porn. But still, it'd be nice to have one.
I'm tired of life being so complicated, why can't life be simpler?
Thats about it... I guess it turned out to be a I'm tired about life thing... Oh well, hope you read and maybe give advice to me, maybe there are things you use as techniques to go by life a bit easier that I don't, or logic that I don't know. Or Maybe you'd like to post what you are tired about.

You sound like me.
Minus the allergy and girlfriend bit.
But yes, mom always yells at me for not having a job, and I constantly procrastinate even though it never does me any good.
Sigh.
I don't know, really. I guess if I really forced myself to do things just about as soon as I have the opportunity to do so, I could do better. But it's not easy...

I used to be like that. I know what you're getting at. Accepting responsibility is fairly important. There's not discreet 'trick' to it. You just... do what you have to do. Preferably earlier than you're supposed to. If you're anything like I'm imagining, then the french have a verb for this; trainer: to hang around without a purpose; to laze around. Don't just bum around 'til the last minute then cram for a test or bumrush a test. Pace yourself. Time management is miserably hard to grasp. I still havn't mastered it, but do things earlier.
You have to be more assertive. I noticed I was sneezing around certain areas. I called up my doctor, took a blood test, and apparently I'm allergic to grass, maple, oak, house dust, dogs, and cats. Now I avoid these things. And I have allergy medication for when I visit friends' with cats. =| Only the important friends that have cats, anyway. ( ) You can do these things yourself, call your doc, ask for allergies, etc.
Oh. and the girlfriend thing? being single is not a choice, dear. Be yourself, speak up, you probably still have high school. TALK to people. Socialising gets harder with age.
Or just masturbate at home. whatever. your choice. ;/
advice is as it comes, choose to heed, or continue wallowing in your mediocrity.

Thank you very much FireRocket1690, I will take much of what you said to heart. And Mind, of course. :] Yeah, as of now I am in College, haha. (Yeah not doing so great with time management, or sleeping, etc) Right, I might just do that anyways. xDDDDD
But thank you very much.

Porn=/=A good replacement for other people. You'll feel better if you go out and hang out with friends, believe me. Or even a girlfriend. Just remember, you're her girl friend. She's there for more than pretty looks and sex.
I hate procrastinating too. >_< I'm awfil with it. Been getting better but still not good. You just gotta keep pushing yourself, don't give up, don't settle. Because that's when things really start to get back.

Nobody got my joke?
Heh, anyways, don't feel alone on the procrastination, I'm very much like that, and even though I try to fix it (ex. doing homework on a day that's NOT due on the due date or the night before), but for some odd reason I guess I can get it done when I'm under the pressure I put upon myself... try to figure that one out...
Some of us just can't help doing things at the last minute, but if you think about it, it's better to do it at the last minute instead of not at all
@Firo: Not to be nasty or anything, but it can be his choice if he want's to be single, I see nothing wrong with it, even though having that special someone there for you is amazing in itself

If you lack the drive to do things normally, you could always try tricking yourself into doing things that need to be done. I'd describe the process, but I don't want to let myself catch on.
The easier and more quantifiable method is the baby-steps approach. While studying, instead of getting up to check AIM, force yourself to stay put. Do this for as long as you can. You will, inevitably, end up checking AIM, tvtropes, and maybe porn. Still! The more you work at it, the longer you'll be able to resist distraction.

I feel you on the procrastination. I used to be absolutely horrid until I had a crisis with some assignments early last semester. It took an emergency to make me change my habits, and while I still procrastinate now, it's not nearly as bad as it used to be.
Advice-wise, I'd suggest buying a planner. You don't need to go and schedule your whole day, but I've found that just writing a checklist of a few things I HAVE to get done on a given day helps me out a lot.
Try breaking down bigger things too. Don't just tell yourself you need to write AN ENTIRE 5 PAPER NOW! Just start off with making yourself write a couple paragraphs today, and another couple tomorrow. Breaking down workloads does wonders for me.
