I was wondering. I played other MMORPGs like UO, EQ, and DAoC for the PC, and I quit all of them. They boil down into nothing but slaying monsters over and over and over and over and over to increase your "statz". Those games are nothing but hunting some stupid monster for his phat lewt, spamming, and going "bling bling" when you level up. Does PSO end up being nothing but a level grinder game with no enviroment interaction? If so, I dont think I want to pay 9$ a month for it.

edit: If the only good aspect is social interaction, I'm not paying cash for Chatroom Advance either

Well, it's sort of half and half. Unfortunately both halves have the same purpose. The role-playing aspect of PSO is virtually non-existent, and gameplay relies entirely in the repetetive slaying of monsters. So there you have it!

Sounds like you answered your own question. MMORPGs are MMORPGs.

OF course PSO isn't just any MMORPG.. its more than that, the comunity is great, the rewards(Rares) is great, the game play is great.
HECK the whole game is GREAT... Buy it and try it out. you might fall in love with it.

Um, you really cant "try" pso... lol

Game: 50
Keyboard: 80
Dialup Adapter: 30
Account: 9

It adds up, and there is no place to rent this game where I live. "Rares" aren't a thing for me, if I found a dog turd with gold teeth and moon dust in it, it would be considered rare, but I wouldn't want it. Just collecting stuff because its rare doesn't make much sense to me. The community isn't a buying point for me either, because I can have a community in a non-monthly-fee game. So I guess I did answer my own question.

The problem is all the MMORPG had requisite massive downtimes after each fight, players that had typically no benefit in helping you, horrible graphics, and a fight system that consisted of pushing A and making a sandwich.

You will find none of that in PSO. There's level grind, as you're likely to find in every MMORPG, but the storyline is at least solid, boss fights are fun, killing monsters doesn't get too repetative, and it's directly in another player's favor to get into a game with you, if only for the rares, and if she/he is from PSOW, because they're nice. How's that sound? ^_^

Sounds abhorrent. Metroid Prime is one of the greatest games i've played, but I cant imagine beating it it 30 times a month. The fight with Metroid Prime is great, but once you beat him even twice, its too easy. Would get stale soon. As far as I'm concerned, i've seen PSO in action and it doesn't have very good graphics. NO better than AC2 for the PC. Thanks but no thanks.

I was comparing it to EQ, AC, and DAOC, AC2 has a jump on it by about 2 years. It doesn't get so easy, i think. Ultimate is a real challenge at any time; there's a difference between PSO and MP, but it's kind of hard to define..

Ah well, looks like you've made up your mind anyways and it's your choice ^_^
