Default Class/Weapon mechanics? - 07-19-2010, 07:30 PM

I don't know if this is described somewhere, but I would appreciate it if someone who has played the Japanese PSP2 could explain how the classes and weapon equipping works. ?

Create character and choose one of the four types: Hunter, Ranger, Force, Vanguard/Braver

Once in Clad6, there's an NPC that give you the following options:

* Change class type (for a small fee)
* Allocate weapons for the chosen class type (the higher the level, more weapons you can equip in terms of C to S rank)
* Choose type abilities; as you level up your type class you will gain abilities, here's a list http://psp2.psupedia.info/Type_abilities
You level the type class up via missions, at the end you'll be receiving mission points for them.

You can equip any weapon you want, just that other classes will benefit more e.g. Ranged weapons on a ranger or Swords on a Hunter.

This is also due to limitations on the PA skills for each class;
Force users can use upto LV30 technics while hunter/ranger are limited to LV15 and Vanguard/Braver to LV20, etc.

So in short, it's a free for all for what you wanna do...
The abilities, roles and such will depend on your choosing.

Edit:

The type abilities that have been unlocked via a class can be used for any class of choosing.
You start off with 4 slots per class, but that'll extend to a max of 8 slots as you progress for abilities.
This is what makes your character unique, it makes you specialize... makes you special @_@

Every Type can use any Weapon so long as you allow it to with Type Extend.
With Type Extend, you choose which weapon and grade you want you to be able to use; depending on your type, it will cost a different amount of points.
For example, if you're a Force, then it'll cost 50 points to use a C-Rank wand, a Vanguard/Braver will have to spend 75 points.

At TL (Type Level) 30, you're able to equip around 6-8 S-Ranks, or everything at A-Rank. Of course, it depends on which type you choose; since it depends on how much points it costs for the weapons you choose with that type.

Wow, this all sounds pretty complicated but I'm getting the general idea. I'm sure that once I start playing I'll get used to it. Thank for the info, Typestatic and Izuna

To put it in layman's terms, once your class level is high enough, you can equip any weapon you want and quite a few of them as any class.

Nice. Does your overall level go down to 1 when you switch classes? (by class I mean hunter/ranger/force)

You had asked about extend codes...

Extend codes are items you get from completing Challenge mode 1 from start to finish (there are 7 stages in all; stages 3-7 will need 2-4 players to complete) with a character. You can get 5; 1 from completing it the first time and 1 for each class you complete it with (aka Hunter, Ranger, Force, Braver/Vanguard). There was also MALW and MAX, events in which we got 3 extend codes...totaling it to 6. Unlike the ones from challenge mode, these are rewarded once per account. So you can't use a new character on your save file to get 6 more.

So if you did the events and did Challenge mode 1 with all 8 of your character slots in all their classes, you would have a total of 46 extend codes @~@

These codes can be used on a weapon, once grind to 10 to extend them. Their stats will increase and if it wasn't a S rank weapon previously, it will be a S rank weapon with it's properties (like you can't use them until you're around 80ish or so). Also, with some weapons, you can change the effect they have. Like making them have a freeze effect. Not all weapons have the ability to change effects though.

That's just about it about extends that I know of. Someone with better ability to explain can do it better than I can @~@

That's a good enough explanation
Thanks, Ami. So basically these codes are a way to seriously boost a weapon !!!

If weapons have ranks, does that mean that those are in place of the star system that was used in PSZ? Or is that something else?

Some weapons get some interesting bonuses for extending them...I'm not sure entirely, but I hear psycho wand is one such example.

It's also a way to make your favorite weapon usable even if it's incredibly low rank. Novelty weapons included
