Default Section ID + race for HU? - 09-03-2010, 03:39 AM

Wasn't sure if I should just google it, but I know you all like to talk about this stuff anyways Besides, PSO community has always been one of the best I've found for any game!

About to start BB.

Used to play HUmar on GC, enjoyed Resta etc but I could live with out it and just use mates (especially as I've now got F-keys to lay them out on!)

I was thinking HUcast, would people recommend them? I enjoyed using knifes/daggers etc on my HUmar and would probably go along the lines of twin weapons again. It's been ages since I played PSO so a little rusty on what weaps are available but I like to get in quick combos and dodge attacks. Maybe I should go for a more DEF based char this time, not sure.

Anyway, Section ID?

I was hoping to raise a Rati, but after reading the guides I figure my best bet is to do this on a different char.

Cheers in advance

HUcast dominates so yea he's pretty good

you could try yellowboze or redria as for an ID

purplenum is pretty neat too

and don't worry about def, you can just get a BHC down the line (black hound curiass or something, +300 DFP). focus on maxing luck and atp with the units you wish to have equipped. playing with a FO is also a much better boost to your defense than you could ever hope to achieve through materials or god/body units as well so there's something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the reply!

Interesting, what about a melee FO? I've seen it in PSZ but never thought of it in PSO.

Having problems running it on vista ATM, might aswel ask here before making a post elsewhere.

Ive got a Mobile intel 965 express chipset family graphics card, on a Vista laptop. I've installed latest drivers, tried running on all the settings turned down in psobb, sound off etc and the game is just running so slow.

Tried changing compatibility mode to XP and 98 and all sorts.

HUCasts are great, but their ATA maxes at about 191 (which is comparatively low), so be forewarned. ATP growth is amazing, on the other hand!

Redria would be good for a first character as you find items like god/battle. Skyly is also great for swords. Oran would be the ID you would want for short sword (ie. dagger-class) weapons.

Melee FO: Either go with the FOmar or FOmarl. FOmar would be more offense-oriented as they receive bonuses for gi- spells and Grants, as well as 2x range for shifta and deband (for partying, of course)

FOmarls have an even greater bonus for Grants (x1.5 damage I believe, compared to FOmar's x1.3) and have double anti and resta range.

FOmars have more ATP, but FOmarls have better dfp and ata. FOmars have the male saber animation (which is generally conceived as better than the female counterpart), whereas FOmarls have a unique slicer animation.

Good luck!

I personally LOVE my Skyly HUcast. Lots of power + Sealed J-Sword drop ftw!

skyly as a whole is pretty lame once you get a hit red sword/chain sawd.

staking an ID's usefulness off one of the harder drops in the game is a pretty bad thing to do.

I like how HUcaseal has been completely ignored, especially seeing that he wants to block attacks. HUcaseals have a max of 877 EVP, and the some 50-point difference (too lazy to do a precise calc) between the two's max DFP won't matter if a Force is present, and HUcaseals have the highest ATA among Hunters, and are the only ones able to use Dual Birds. While HUcasts may have the highest ATP in the game, they have poor Dagger and D.Saber animations, as well as ATA compared to other Hunters, and those are prime for quick-strikes, and HUcaseal has unique animations for both that let her get in all attacks and escape unharmed majority of the time. In fact, you can use Daggers as early as Caves and have confidence in either hitting all hits, or escaping an enemy's attack if you need to cut the combo short for whatever reason.

As for ID, I'd suggest either Oran or Purplenum if you're looking for quick-strikers. Oran gives a good array of Daggers, and Purplenum gives a good array of Mechguns. Yellowboze is a decent selection as well.
