I'm sure none of you live anywhere near Asheville/Black Mountain/Swannanoa in North Carolina(Although if you do, that would be funny as all hell), but meh. 4am yesterday morning, the Beacon Manufacturing plant in Swannanoa caught fire. As of 11pm last night it was still burning. From about 5:30pm to a little after 8pm when they evacuated the area, my mom and I went and watched one of the remaining buildings burn like a motherf*cker. It was really cool, in a morbid sort of way. The flames and the smoke and all that were really pretty... It was neat to watch the fire spread, when we got there it was pretty much at the end of the building, visible through the top and the collapsed section of the wall, as well as the windows, and by the time they cleared everybody out it was 2/3rds of the way along the building and visible through the windows in the middle section. Part of the wall collapsed further while we were watching, it was really cool... Sadly, we had no camera with us(Would have been a disposable anyways), so no pretty fire pictures, but it was really cool anyways. Heh. And the plant's been abandonded for about a year now, so there wasn't anything there but empty buildings, so it's not exactly a horrific tragedy, unless you want to get sad about it being there since the 20s or 30s or something and how half the people who live around here used to work there before it closed.
Heh, perhaps the only time in my life I'll ever safely sit on railroad tracks(Tracks run right by the building we were watching, and due to the danger of collapse, they weren't allowed to run through there).
