OK, I love the symbol chat things you guys use online...and tried playing around with mine...2 questions that are frustrating me....

- How do you create the animated ones?

- Can you "hotkey" them, create a shortcut, or do you have to access them through the Start menu all the time? It says you can in the so-called Perfect Guide, but as in all good user manuals nowadays, it doesn't say how.... *sigh*

I don't think there are technically any "animated" icons. However, if you display one icon soon after another, it will go straight from one to the next for an animated "look". (As opposed to popping up in a new bubble).

First you go to Symbol Chat to create your custom symbols. I take it you've found that already.

Second you assign the symbols to shortcuts. This part's not so obvious. When you assign a shortcut, at first it looks like you can only assign it to a text message. What you need to do (and this isn't documented) is press X a couple times when you get the onscreen keyboard to type in a shortcut. This will cycle you to Symbol Chat. Find the symbol you made which you want to shortcut, and select it!

If you want to make an "animated" symbol, what you really need to do is first make a few symbols which are the frames of the animation. Then assign each one to a different shortcut. For instance, assign them to F1 ro F4. To do the animation, press F1, F2, F3, F4, etc...

There you go!

Ah HAH! Thank you so much!!! You're right, I thought that I could only assign text to the shortcuts, nothing I pressed seemed to work! Ever consider writing guides for video games?
