I was playing TTF today with my friend, and i noticed that whenever i got close to her, a flutter of hearts would float up. and she wasnt using that wand that releases haearts. I had just played with her in a game before and this hadnt happened. In the latter game we had gotten a SS Rank and gotten the purple ring, which we were both wearing, so i was wondering if the hearts are attributed to us both wearing the rings? and if so, if there any benifit? or is it just visual? and lastly does this happen with all rings? or just the purple ring.

It was the rings.

Each ring color has its own effect. White is feathers, Purple is Hearts, I'm not sure about the others.

When the hearts are around you both, you gain 50 DFP.

And there's other ways to get the hearts. Like wearing Love heart. Or doing the Love subquest in TTF.

Purple Rings and Love heart yes.

Safety Heart only does this when you evade.
