All right, as most of you know I am moving within a week or so to head up to Monroe Michigan. So natrually, I'd thought I would go and close my savings account at Wells Fargo.

I ask my mom for a ride because I also had a check to cash that my grand-parents had sent me for my birthday. I hopped outta our van and headed into the bank. I picked the only teller open and told her I'd like to cash my check. She appeared not to be having such a great day so I wanted to help her out and before she asked I had flipped out my school ID.

I signed the check and she gave me the money; afterward I told her I would like to close my bank account because I was moving soon. She said, "All right, let me get the information." And so she left and headed into the back and I patiently waited for her to return. When she came back she told me that I had to have my parent or guardian with me.

I said that my mom was out in the car and that I would go and get her. So I brought my mom in and we went to talk to the girl. She said she would check my information again, to close my account. She came back later and said that I need to have my dad with me because he was there when my account was made and he needed to handle all transactions with it.

This is what made me a little angry, because I had often come to cash checks from work, despoit money, or withdraw a 20; and never had I needed my dad there, I just flipped out my school ID and everything was happy. I explined this to her and she got angry and said again, "You need your father here."

My mom turned to the girl and spoke nicely because she knew the girl was having a bad day, "I'm his mother." The girl replied, "Yes, I am sure you are but his father needs to be here."

Her voice was raising now and several customers and workers were turning to see what was going on. I replied, "These people know me and I have been coming here for a long time as I said before."

Now the girl-teller was rasing her voice almost to the shouting level, "That's nice they know you but I can't let you close your account."

after a brief pause the teller replied again, "Maybe you can just withdraw all your money and close it later."

So she went to the back to do...something and left my mom and I standing there, watching the uneasy eyes of customers and workers. Many of which had stopped their doings just to see what was going on with a worker shouting at a customer.

Soon the girl came back and said, "Well, I guess it can't be done." By now I was losing my temper and I tried to be as gentle as possible when replying, "I'm moving with 1 week, maybe 2. My dad won't be coming home until a day or so before I move."

"That's not my problem."

Now my mom was starting to get angry with the girl and said, "I could tell that you were having a bad day, and I'm sorry for what it is, but that does not mean you can do this. I was in here just the other day to close my daughters account whom, I was not with when it was made. Everything went just fine with it."

The girl started to yell things that I could barely make out, now nearly everyone in the bank had come to see what the hell was going on. Several workers sitting down at desks at stood up and came over.

I turned to the girl and told her as nicely as I could, "It's my account!"

Now she was absolutely pissed and flipped out on me. Nor myself or my mom wanted to deal with it anymore and so we left the bank listening to the faint cries and shouts of the teller.

Honestly. What the hell, we called the manager once we got home and are still waiting to see what was going on. That girl was a bitch, she had NO right to flip out and yell at customers that were trying to be nice. Honestly, I'm pissed. The End.

Well, how old are you?
If you're under 18, you need the person there that was with you who created the account, plain and simple - unless you are older then 18 when you closed the account.

Plain, and simple. Because, it isn't just your account - but also your fathers. Even though he might not use it, he still is on it and still "has" a say with it. Much like if you're under 18 again - your video game system that you bought with your money isn't legally yours.

It belongs to your parent or guardian. You have no legal right to own private property if you're a minor.

So yes, it is your fault because the teller was doing her job. That is, assuming you're under 18. No excuse for her to bitch, but hey.

The other thing about the account is that you can access your money - anyone who is signed up on your account can - but closing your account is a completely separate subject.

However, you could have taken all of the money and left in $.01 (if you are a minor there isn't a bare minimum needed to be kept on an account typically), and left.

And you'd get so much interest off of that .01!

I seriously doubt getting loud and obnoxious to a customer isn't included in her job description. I wish some public-type worker at a store/bank/etc. had the audacity to get loud or excessively ignorant to me as a customer for no apparent reason. Even if there is an apparent reason, behavior like that is unnacceptable and I'd say that pretty much everywhere, included in the training prior to working these jobs is emphasis on customer satisfaction and respect. And I'm sure defying any of these standards will definitely get the worker in trouble, unless the management are just about as big of an ass as the employee. And that's why you take it to the next level to regional/district mgm't.
