I've been a big fan of Castlevania and the such for a long while, and have often wondered if it could be made into a movie. A few questions arise:

1. Should it be based off one of the games?
2. Which game should it be based off of?
3. Should it be just a free story using charaters and/or events/places from the games?

I would like to see it on the silver screen so badly, but if it was a low budget film, most likely might not be to the liking of fans.

It can't have shit actors.
Shit effects.
Shit director.
Shit shit.

Make it good and worthy of Castlevania and I'd so be there.

What do you guys think?

What, exactly, would seperate it from other Dracula movies? I've not played all of the Castlevania games, but the only thing that made them really worthwhile was the excellent gameplay. Without that, all that you have is a sub-par storyline that *has* to have stupid shit thrown into it just to make it 90 minutes long. This is why most games don't really translate into movies very well - the premise is promising when you get to interact with it, but how fun is watching somebody play a game for 2 hours? Usually not so entertaining...

Probably the only one worthwhile would be Symphony of the Night (at least, that's what I've heard from many a Castlevania fan... I've yet to play the game myself), but doesn't that involve quite a bit of insight into the series history to truly understand?

Then again, I guess the GBA games are all pretty self-contained. But you've gotta have a Belmont, y'know? And you've gotta have Simon, y'know?

Well, I guess you don't need Simon, but whatever.

Symphony of the Night was my favorite out of the ones I have played. (Still need to play the N64 ones, and the new one for PS2 and Aria of Sorrow.)

In Symphony they did have a belmont. *Ricther* And ya' know, Alucard is like the father of Trevor. Afterall, when he and Sohpia got jiggy, he gave the Belmonts super human strength. To my knowledge, I might have to check out the Dungeon and double check.

*Needs to buy a PS2 to play the new one*

^_^

While Smyphony is my favorite of the series, seeing it turned into a movie would be near impossible without screwing up everything that is Castlevania. Plus Symphony would require some knowledge of previous games, specically Castlvania III and Dracula X. Trevor Belmont working with Sypha and Alucard(even Gant) to Richter and Maria. Also, the game is more about exploring the castle and fighting the various baddies within, there just isn't enough actual story elements, in any Castlevania game, to fully flesh out a movie. Well one that would be worth while anyway. But they are trying to make a Metroid movie so who knows.

"This plan is so bad it HAS to be ours."
