Hey, I needed some help with finding out what to expect here. I want to port the PAL version of PSO, so I can play the Japanese quests (yes, I can speak some Japanese) and get the other benefits USA players were not privvy to.

I've heard that PAL is a video standard, and so even though I'm sure I could get it working on my Dreamcast using a boot disc, I'm not sure the video-out would play on my TV.

I'm also concerned whether I would be able to transfer over my characters to PAL version 2, as I have the U.S. release of PSO version 1.

Has anyone done this? I also have a PSO-deprived friend in Australia who would be interested in the process of porting the European version.

It'd be nice to play version 2 once in an affordable manner with my strong version 1 characters before moving on to the Gamecube completely... : Especially since I won't be able to AFFORD a Gamecube and GC PSO until, most likely, well after the GC PSO community has diluted drastically, months after its U.S. release. Bleh.
