I find water never helps.

What works much better is something that helps distract you from the time, that way you it'll seem like its over in less time.

Hee hee.
I had this on Friday.

Some co-worker asked me a question, I proceeded to answer and hiccup at the same time.
Freaking !!! Embarassing to say the least. I'm like, never going to laugh again.

I tried to hold it in with my brain power.

Suffice to say two more hiccups came out I counted and I was fine.

Use brain energy.
Don't end up like the guy on the Springfield news report who had the hiccups for years:
"*sic* Kill me! *sic* Kill me!"

A pretty much garunteed way to cure them is to Hold your breathe for ten seconds, still holding it in down a glass of water.
It's not one or the other as most people are heard suggesting.
It's both combined.

Thank you for your time. NEXT!

A good punch in the gut works just as well, and doesn't run up the water bill.

And if that doesn't cure 'em, the pain will put you're mind off them at least!
