I don't really know what to say. I feel in one way, good that he's with what he believes, but bad that he died like that.

It may just be me, but I found that comment a bit inappropriate. Whether you are a catholic or not, I don't care, it has to do with respect. Someone in such a prestigious position to NEARLY everyone in the world(including those of different faiths) dying is a terrible thing.

At the same time, a random person off the street dying is a terrible thing, but I suppose you can't get as much attention from people then now could you?

All I ask is that people learn some degree of self control and respect to others.

If you don't have anything useful to say, don't say it.

Now for being on topic, I was just at my Grandmothers house when I saw the news and she is a wreck. My Grandfather had two wishes before he died, 1) to outlast the Pope, and 2) to have one of his grandchildren have a baby.

The Pope beat him by 2 days.

A life is a life. Sad to see another good person die. I can't say his beleives stop me from being sad, just because we don't see the world in the same light and all that.

Sad to see someone pass who gave hope to so many people, and who so many looked to. But yeah, down to the nitty gritty, it is just another person, in that regard, I agree.

Lets be mindful of how we phrase things, this is a sensitive topic just as the gay rights thread was. I don't want to issue warnings for disrespect.

Look, he did it again.

Him telling them not to use contraception was a death sentence to masses, and I'm sure the guy was smart enough to know that, but as it is, religious dogma has more influence in some parts of the world than scientific fact and he took advantage of it.

Well, he's just another person in the sense that he's a human being, but the pope was also THE most respected person in the world. Not because he was just "the Pope" but because his diligence in spreading the faith to everyone has never wavered even with attempted assassinations and failing health. The man was a great man, regardless if you are catholic or not, people should respect his peaceful objectives, regardless if you are muslim, atheist, jewish ect.
