Everyone seems to have alot of questions about anime, so i just made a general thread.

What i was wondering, is an Anime called 'Appleseed' any good? Its just been released on DVD over here in the UK (along with Metropolis, but i heard that sucks) and i wanted to what it was about before i bought it. So, is it any good?

I've seen it, it was ok. Nothing spectacular...

Just your generic Futuristic Police Anime really...

I dont really enjoy anime, you might even say I hate it. The only one I ever liked was Gundam, it held my interest, mainly because I liked the story. So, I have a few questions about it:

1. Whos fighting who?
2. Does America still exist?
3. What side are the main dudes fighting for?
4. What year does it take place?

Just for future reference, it's impossible for Metropolis to "suck", as it's made by a living legend.

It is possible if you are an action oriented anime watcher. I watched it and I love the art, the story, and the unique layout but my "Ninja Scroll" side felt it was let down in the slice and dice with lot'sa fights department. For those who don't know, Metropololis was headed by the guy responsible for Akira. *bows down

Not every anime focuses on action, and if you've had decent exposure, you'd know this.

True but still not everyone will be attained to non-action animes if action is their personal theme and vice versa. I'm exposed to almost every Anime there is and from that experience a good Anime to me is still a nice blend of Action, story, great art, and Characters.

Some anime I just can't get into. Some come off as disgustingly cute. I like cute anime, and I also like gut wrenching sad anime, and I look blood/gore anime, and war anime.

With Metropolis, there was a collision. The art was great, I agree, but it just had a "Disney feel" to it, which really threw me off. I appreciate it for what it is, and who made it, but honestly, I had to turn it off after 20 minutes because of the collision in style.

BUT as always, give it a try. Just because I did'nt like it means you won't.

As for anime to look for. I'll say one thing, Hellsing. And no damn spoilers!

Didnt know the guy responsible for Akira was also behind Metroplis (Akiras actually on tv right now). I may have a look at it, i know my mate will buy it cause he fanatical about Akira.

So what was Appleseed actually like?

Actually, it's close to impossible you're exposed to nearly every anime. That's just a ridiculous statement. Most people in Japan aren't exposed to every anime. Be realistic, and don't just invent exposure to make yourself look experienced.

And while Metropolis did have a Disney feel, I truly enjoyed it. Seeing it on the big screen made me appreciate it so much more.
