Well for all of us it is obvious where Sega went wrong...in the charging...most online multiplayer games are "free" u basically pay to buy the license and then the gameing is totally free....sega however decided to give an extra charge that may not be much, but was the main reason for some serious fan loss. I would have rather see ads, such as a coca cola tourny...whihc occurr on PSOBB yet Sega keeps charging. If sega doesn't realize that charging will make her loose tons of fans this game will not progress, I'd rather have to pay for an add free startup than pay for the right to connect, I think Sega shouldn't compensate their loss in videogames by charging for it's server usage...considering that now Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft servers are free....if a similar ga,e is made as an exclusive for any of the 3 companies.....Sega would have to resort to stop producing thuis game...and I beleive its the best RPG ever made...specially EP3...but that's on anaohter forum, hehe.

I do not believe it is the "charging" people money that went wrong. What went wrong is charging people money for no supports, updates and new quests. Other then that if Sega continues to support and update PSO, people would be much more happier.

When you look at other popular adventure/RPG games online, they usually charge people but with updates and other new contents.

Wel...not really...let's talk about Blizzard, you buy the license with the game, they make updates...they have online activity, they even offer a much greater variaty of characters than PSO yet in a Lord of the Rings world and it costs...0, that's where I'm aiming at, all good and popular online RPG games are free...yet Sega's are not, besides they are expensive if I may say so...that's where I wanted to arrive at, hehe.

In all honesty, at the very least it would have been better if they had made strides to keep the community all together--as in, not split between different consoles.

The series has suffered a bit from the limitations of console development. Version 2, Episode 2, and Episode 4, if the series had made its home on PC from the start, would have simply been released as expansions. But moving the game from console to console without any centralized place for character data...

I suppose an earlier shift to server-side saving probably would have facilitated this, but alas, what's done is done.

You're not talking about World of Warcraft, are you? Because that game is anything but free. And as far as I know that's there only active online RPG? The rest of their online library are RTS titles.

Our posturings, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the Universe, are challenged by this point of pale light. Your party in PSO can consist of up to four players. That's a rather odd thing to ask, though, considering you're posting on a PSO fansite's message board?

Phantasy Star Universe is a "reset"--a new timeline/universe, so no, you won't be able to to move your BB character to PSU. Your party in that game can consist of up to six players.

I am a PSO fan, thats why I know about this site, however I was expecting that more ppl could play online at the same time, I thougfht the 4 player max was because of console limits..sorry for asking :S. Ok...so u wont be able to transfer your chars...at the risk of being off-topic...is the PC license for PSOBB also good for PSU? Finally, how is the activity of PSOBB in these days? Is it dead or really kicking?

i'd guess BB is pretty active.
furthermore, your licenses and accounts / chars dont transfer over.
your PSU-account however can be used with the future PS2 and PC release as well as the rumoured XBox (360) release.
PSU will be an MMORPG - meaning you arent limited to four players per party.
and, some online games choose to charge for server usage because servers dont grow from trees and need actual funding. everything costs money and some companies decide to grant you free access and some dont.
