Do you need to pay per month if you plan on playing offline or does the hunters license have to be purchased before you can play at all, not just online?

there is no offline for BB, and yes you must purchase a HL before play.

Also,you do get 14 days of free play before monthly pay goes into affect, you still have to register a HL and account.

BB has no offline mode. You must purchase a HL in order to play. There is a 14-day trial however, which costs $1? for confirming credit card info or something like that. After the 14 days, you have to pay $8.95 per month.

Note: System Requirments say a Japanese version of Windows is needed, but it is not neccessary for the US version of BB.

The $1 is given back after it is charged I believe, it's just to check if your card is vaild.
