The ps2 uses a logitech usb headset. It's purchased seperately and is of 'meh' quality.

Keyboard = everyone can read and know what you're saying.
 Headset = only headset users can hear you.  overall, keyboard has better advantages. |

That's not a very good list...
Though I do also prefer text chat to voice chat... As for the question, I can't say no definitively, but I'd be damned surprised if the PS2 version of PSU was voice capable. It hasn't really been used or even mentioned since Socom II lost steam... so it's not like the market is there to support the implimentation of such a feature.

FF11 as well as other MMORPGS are keyboard only and no one complains about using text.
I mean take this board for example, not as many would be talking here if it was completely voice chat, or even both text and voice, the voice chat section would always have the fewest people in a room. Xbox360 will have voice support cause because headsets with Xbox are like a culture in itself. but like FF11, some will be convinced to use keyboard if they plan on playing with others who don't use headset. |
