Sonic was handed out as a promotional item for new XBox 360 players in December 2007. It was given out to Japanese PC/PS2 players as a reward prize in Maximum Attack G in January 2008.
It was given to US/EU players on both servers as a reward for participating in the July 2009 Sonic Birthday event.
