We're happy to announce that PSO-World's very extensive site upgrade is completed! After nearly six months of preparation and over 48 hours of solid updating, the forums are back online and sporting a new look, with even more new features. A huge thanks to everyone who helped out in some way. In particular, a big thanks to Ryna, who's incredible effort (and sometimes disturbing workaholic tendencies) made this all possible!

Here's some exciting news for everyone. This week, we will be performing some very large and extensive upgrades to PSO-World. We've been long overdue for a software upgrade and are pleased to announce that the forums will be first area of the site to get a major overhaul. This Thursday and Friday (and perhaps Saturday & Sunday as well), we will be converting the existing forums over to a new, cutting-edge forum system, complete with loads of new features and functionality! During this process, we do expect there to be significant downtime that will cause the forums, and possibly the entire site, to be unreachable. Don't worry, though, we will be working hard to get everything back up and running as quickly as possible.

As part of the upgrade, we will be carrying over as much of our existing information and data as possible, so there's no need to worry about your PSOW account or information posted on the current boards, it will all be there waiting for you in the new system. We do, however, strongly advise everyone to update their account information with a valid email address. After the upgrade, everyone will need to log in to the site again, so it is important that you either know your PSOW password or have a valid email address listed in your account settings so that the password can be retrieved.

This week's upgrade will bring a number of very useful, as well as highly requested, features to the site. We're really excited about the overall level of improvement over the previous system and look forward to hearing everyone's feedback once the upgrade has completed! We'll try to post more information on the new features later in the week, so stay tuned!

Earlier today, PSO-World's server received some upgrades that should hopefully improve performance throughout the site. Users should hopefully notice less slowness and downtime during peak hours or other times when the site is receiving high amounts of traffic. This is the first of several upgrades that we have planned in the coming months, so stay tuned for more updates as PSO-World continues to improve and expand!

January marks PSO-World's 7th year of covering Phantasy Star games! Started back in 2001, PSO-World launched with the sole intention of providing the PSO community with a place to call home. Now seven years later, we're still alive and kicking, playing host to the latest generation of Phantasy Star fans (as well as many PSO veterans who are still frequenting the site!).




It's been a great run so far, and we're looking forward to many more years of serving the Phantasy Star fan base! A big thanks to everyone for continuing to support the site and this great community!

As of right now, PSO-World's Ambition of the Illuminus Launch Party has officially ended. We hope everyone had a great time collecting Rappy Feathers, chatting with other PSO-World members during the meet-up, and working on their Fan Art contest submissions!

The event was a huge success and you guys scoured the site, finding nearly 60,000 Rappy Feathers in the process, WOW! In addition, we've received a number of excellent fan art submissions, which will appear in an online voting gallery very soon! Once our fan art winners are selected, we'll have our Mega Raffle drawing and give away all of those great prizes!!

Thanks to everyone who showed up for our online meet-up on the PS2/PC and Xbox 360 as well. We collected hundreds PSOW usernames and have decided to add 10 additional Rappy Feather entries for each PSO-World member that attended and registered their username! That's not all, we'll also be having a special side drawing for some inflatable partner machines, just for attendees of the event. Winners for that drawing will be announced soon, so keep an eye on the front page!

To compensate for the holiday and better synchronize the Launch Party events, we've extended the Rappy Feather Hunt and entry deadline for the humor category fan art competition to December 1st, 2007 @ 11:59 PM PST. In addition, we've just added 10 copies of Ambition of the Illuminus (PC/PS2) to the already massive Launch Party prize pool!

We've received a great response from the event so far and hope everyone is having fun! We have a TON of prizes to give out, so keep working on your contest entries and collecting those feathers! Ambition of the Illuminus Launch Party.

PSO-World.com is proud to announce a massive new update to our Phantasy Star Universe Items Database. Thanks to a tremendous effort from our resident workaholic, Ryna, the item database is now packed full of brand new features and functionality for your browsing enjoyment. In addition, we've also added support for the upcoming PSU expansion, Ambitions of the Illuminus. Some of the other key features in this update include the following:

Greatly improved sorting and filtering capability

More thumbnails and preview images

New 'gallery mode' listings for select categories

New item sub-categories with their own pages

It's been nearly seven years since the creation of PSO-World, home to one of the best gaming communities anyone could ask for, and here we are at yet another milestone in our site's history. In case you couldn't figure it out from the headline and giant graphic, we've broken the TWO MILLION post count on our message boards! Hooray!




Our two millionth post can be found HERE, made by Otis_Kat, who might just be guilty of camping out and waiting for the opportunity to seal his name in the PSOW history books. Thanks for the congratulations, though, and nice job on the timing!

A BIG thanks to all of the users, active and retired, who have helped get us to this point. Keep those posts coming, we're setting our sights on three million!

We at PSO-World would like to announce that we are officially supporting Free Form Role Play on PSU. Details regarding the subject can be found, and are currently being hammered out, in this Fan Works thread. Following, is a brief overview:

Fan Works will be the home of all RP activity on the site, until such a time that the threads it generates become sufficient to support a forum of their own.

For now, dice checks will be operated via PSU's /random command; above 450 for a success, above 900 for a critical success.

Until Sonic Team provides us with PvP, a proctored combat system will be implemented.

There soon be made, a floating sticky for you to establish your RP characters among the RP community, for those who would like to do so.

You are encouraged to make record of your character's personal events and storylines in Fan Works. Make your own thread, and treat it like a group-fic, if you like. Be creative.

PSO-World's official RP Universe, by community selection appears to be Universe 17.

PSO-World will be engaging an official Storyline, to act as a backdrop for the RP community. All RPers are invited to participate in PSO-World Story Events relating to this storyline.
