| When did you start PSO/PSU: | Unfortunately, I missed out on both DC versions and the PC version, so PSOGC was my introduction to the Phantasy Star world. Shortly after the new year (2003) I was in a video rental store (I think it was the Hollywood Video) with a friend who noticed it in a used game bin for around $10. It was in the original box but it didn’t have a manual. He had wanted to play it and didn’t have a GameCube so he talked me into getting it. We headed back to my place and he tried it out for about 25-30 minutes and decided that he would stick with Diablo 2. The next day I gave it shot and I was immediately hooked. I remember playing it for like 20 hours straight that first time and seriously regretting not having tried it before. |
| Favorite Class: | My first PSO char ever was a Fonewearl so I’ll always have a fondness for them having spent so much of my beginning PSO time with her. But having since tried all classes I would say my absolute favorite is Hunewearl followed closely by Ramarl. |
| Favorite Gamestyle: | Aggressive soloing. As much as I loved playing online, I spent the majority of my PSO time offline hunting rares. I never had to worry about calling anything or having someone nab an item that should have been mine. Also, contrary to what many believe is the best part of PSO, that being the online, group play, I really enjoyed starting up PSO and taking on enemies by myself. |
| Favorite Enemy: | I know this will probably sound really lame but at least it’s honest. My favorite enemies have always been the rare Rappies. Like countless others, my first encounter with a rare enemy was the Al Rappy. It caught me by surprise because I didn’t know about rare enemies and I was offline only at the time. After I started searching for info on the internet (which is how I found PSOW, but I’ll get into that later) I found out about the other rare enemies (including the holiday Rappies.) |
| Favorite Weapon: | Definitely Demolition Comet. It was the first cool-looking rare I saw when I first got online, and I’ve loved it ever since. It’s not overly difficult to find and it gets the job done. Mainly though, I just really like the looks of it lol. Another weapon I really like the looks of is The Sigh of a God. |
| Favorite Mag/PM: | When I was offline I didn’t have a clue about rare mags, but I did buy the PSO “Perfect Guide” (which as most of you know is FAR from perfect) to get some help on a quest and it listed the 4th evolution mags and I wanted a Sato really bad. I followed the formula in the guide (which of course was wrong) and ended up with a Pushan. After getting online, I saw tons of rare mags (especially the wing mags for some reason) but the one that really caught my eye was Robochao and that has been my favorite mag ever since. I really liked the Dreamcast mag though too. |
| Best PSO/PSU Memory: | There have been so many great moments in my PSO career but truthfully, the greatest experience I remember is logging on to Sega’s servers for the first time. As I mentioned earlier, I bought the “Perfect” Guide but it didn’t list any rare mags and it didn’t show images of the rare weapons, so that first night online was so cool because I started seeing all these ultra cool items that I’d never seen or heard of before. I also realized how much fun it was to play in a game with others (which reminded me of my time spent playing Diablo 2 on Battlenet.) |
| Funniest PSO/PSU Memory: | It isn’t really a specific moment that I think is the funniest but rather a specific instance of gaming that seems to happen frequently. Anyone who has played legit and/or started a new character should instantly be able to appreciate this. I’m speaking of course about the “Lords of War” who out of the goodness of their hearts feel that my new/legit char needs a maxed out Tsumikiri J Sword, 300% hit BKB and 200 mind pink Sato. I always got a kick out of gamers who immediately thought I was a noob because I was using non rare weapons on my level 10 char and wanted to help me out by duping a bunch of uber rares in a useless attempt to try and impress me. |
| Why did you join PSOW: | I was searching the internet for info on Al Rappies. The thread I found also mentioned piping and I remember being so happy to find that exploit. The reason I actually joined PSOW was to post a thread asking for a trade (I wanted the Madam’s Parasol.) This was before item modding was out and the Parasol wasn’t being duped at the time because dupers hadn’t gotten a hold of it. Incidently, no one answered my thread. I didn’t get one reply, not even to criticize me for asking for it lol. |
| Best PSOW Memory: | Having been a member for almost three years now, I’ve had so many great memories of this place I couldn’t possibly pick just one, but all of them include discussions with members who have since become my friends. There are so many cool members and I just feel fortunate to be part of this community. Ok, that sounded like an awards show speech, so I’ll try for something a little less dramatic lol. Developing friendships, having been able to contribute to the site in terms of guides, info and technical support and being a part of some truly great threads has been tremendously fun and satisfying.

| Comments: | To set the record straight once and for all, I am a guy lol. I have a degree in computer science from Washington State University and I have my MCSE for Windows Server 2003. I worked for Microsoft for about a year and a half before moving on to the IS/IT departments of two major corporations (which will remain nameless lol.) In my spare time I do consulting for businesses wanting to set up small to medium size networks and I also do quite a bit of freelance web design. My most enjoyable spare time activity though is building custom pcs for gamers as well as specialized machines for businesses.
At PSOW, I think I’m best known for editing EVERY SINGLE ONE of my posts :P. I’m usually multitasking and working on several things at once, so I have a really bad habit of not proofreading my post before I hit submit and of course I always have a ton of typos.
I recently became engaged to an amazing woman and we will be getting married this spring (2006)!!!!!! I’ve never been more excited for something and I’m blessed to be able to have this incredible person in my life.
Lastly, I just want to thank all my friends here at PSOW for 3 years of fun and escape from the real world lol, and I hope I see you all on PSU!!!! |
