What about the wii? anyone think it'll come out for the wii?

I sure hope PSO2 doesn't come to the Wii. My main reason for not wanting it on the Wii is storage limitations, which means patch and new content limitations.

yeah we all know that the problem with the issue with money wise and upgrading pc but the fact that sega spend there money on it is just a waste. I think they could just focus on psp2 & pso2 for the console. I am really sorry to say this but they are messing it up for starters. cuz we all know how bad it was back then when player use to hack the first game for pso. if they plan on bring back pso2 to the pc then is just gonna be more easy to get hacked. but they need to do is focus on bring it for the xbox 360 or ps3 this way the game will be less hackable. ppl of today try to hack psu but they only use glitches that sega mess up on and sega still not focusing on fixing some of the bug that still there. first hand pso2 is gonna face a lot of glitches and problem.I can just see it like: logging issue or lagging on depend on how many player on the lobby or server and other thing may or may not happen. I dont want to hurt anyone feeling.I am just saying that something we all feel the same way. in psu the drop rate still bad and some of mission like sakura blast and egg thief still lag. they still dont take the time to fix them. So if u really think about it pso2 may gonna have same problem and more on the pc alone.

I sincerely hope Sega doesn't make PSO2 PC only. That would be a major bonehead move. Not to mention it would alienate a chunk of the fanbase. Like they said on the podcast: Pantasy Star Online was originally a console game, and Sega should do all they can to keep it that way. Not saying it shouldn't be on PC at all, but certainly not ONLY on PC.

PSO2 pc only for the first year or two, then think about a console release. I honestly get tired of seeing PC gaming Nay-Sayers. News flash: PCs do not cost as much as you kids think it does.

I'm not a PC gaming nay-sayer, but PCs do cost a lot if you have no means to save up money for one.

A opposed to say, a PS3 or an Xbox 360? A decent gaming machine can be built for a comparable price as a new (non-Nintendo) console, and an existing PC can be upgraded into a really damned adequate gaming machine for the same. Gaming PCs don't have to cost thousands of dollars, and they're good for tasks beyond playing games and watching movies. Personally, I own 3 PCs (not even including my wife's or my brother-in-law's), but I don't own an Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii, because the cost of the consoles is too prohibitive in this economy. PCs really aren't very expensive, in the grand scheme of things.

Well, I can't afford any of the new consoles, either, so there you go. But I do get your point.

I think any approach they do can be fine if it`s consoles( all of them ie they all can handle this game) or not, but think of how Sega is try to fix the problems of the past it had with the other titles. You have to understand that making a good online game is very hard. That PSO did pretty well in the first year`s also but still had problems and dwindled in POP (by the time GC and XB came out)like any online game PSO is a good starting point but need to understand they will have to change in order to make it in the business world too. the thing is PSO was design for the DC and not the PC so it had limits with little online content( since it was the first time, so they were trying it out). If Sega was still making DC`s then it would be a Sega only game!. I think it`s too early to say right now if PC is the only one But I can see why their doing it, mainly to save $$$ but there is other issues too.

The main thing about PSO2 on the PC is the warning I mentioned before. On the PC, they're pretty much throwing themselves to the wolves. That is the platform with the toughest competition of all. Phantasy Star Online did as well as it did partially for being on consoles, another for being action-oriented at the time. Nowadays, on the PC, they're competing with strong online Role Players of both Action-oriented and Turn-based. Many of the surviving ones with a level of international support that I've yet seen from Sonic Team. If they want to compete on there, they'll definitely have their work cut out for them. Not to mention. Only 1 sci-fi related MMO has ever survived much past the first year or two. Eve Onilne. Phantasy Star was the other one, for all of existence, but partially because they were on consoles. Many other sci-fi ones seemed to die off due to lesser interest in stuff that isn't high fantasy. Strangely enough. Yeah, there's Star Trek, but it's still a baby. Who knows what will come of it in a year or two. I did mention I have hope for them, when they started, because it's been rough for Sci-fi MMOs.

One thing I'm concerned about is techics. I know it's called PSO2 so it will probably be like PSO and PSZ where you can cast technics with any weapon on. If it is more like PSU where you're kind of limited to technics and have to carry several wands, rods or staffs just to have all the techics you want then I'll be sort of sad.

.

Another thing as far as technics go, in PSZ if you were using Foi for example then you could hold down the button you had set for Foi and then it would charge up to Rafoi. I sort of both liked and disliked that about PSZ. I have to say though that I really like the way that worked for Photon Arts where you held down weak or strong attack to charge up to the Photon Art, I think that was kind of cool. In PSU it was abit mindless imo, like one of you guys said; you sort of just spam Photon Arts.

.

I've sort of always imagined PSO being the ultimate game to play with friends if it had more towns to go to like in PSU. Being able to strife like in both PSU and PSZ. There being Photon Arts but not as ridiculously good as in PSU. More areas then Forest, Caves, Mines and Ruins. Don't get me wrong I love those areas I just wish there were more areas and more bosses. I think PSU handled that really well by having several areas to go to. With that also comes more towns, I sort of liked how the four diffrent towns in PSU each had there own uniqueness.

.

I know this is a game mainly for the sort of online social gaming, but as far as the offline gameplay goes I really do hope they throw in cutscenes like in PSU, PSZ and PS:P. This is one of the things that my brother actually really disliked about PSO, there being no 'real cutscenes' like the cutscenes in the PS4. This is also one of the reasons he liked PSO Ep3, there were some real cutscenes... though most of them just showed up if you picked the right quest at the right time.

.

Lastly I hope the game will have a kickass story which will keep you up at night because you wanna know what is going to happen once you finnish the next quest or "wtf is behind this door!?". First time I beat Vol Opt I had not clicked all the Totempoles or whatever to call them so the door for ruins wasn't open. So I had to go back and fix that then go to the door.

Great show keep them coming. In PSO2 I would like to see the raising of mags come back. The range mags in PSU are great. Maybe a mix of the two. Photon blast might be cool to see again. I hope the grinding system is like PSP2 or PSO. I really didn't like the PSU grinding system. Your weapons should be able to break. To me to seem difficulty progression through a level is unbalanced. For example I could start a new character PSO and be able to beat the dragon with some skill in my first run. In the other games like PSU, PS zero, PSP, or PSP2 the levels are a breeze to run through, but the bosses require a far bit of leveling to beet. I'm just saying the levels are much to easy in comparison to the bosses. The level should prep you in some degree for the boss. The balance they had in PSO would be nice to see again. A return of the hilde's!! A Del-Hildetor would be sweet. Stream line controls. The Gamecube controller configuration for PSO is so much faster than the PSU configuration. Hope they keep the roll system like in PS zero or PSP2. I wounder if the attach system is going to be more like PSU or PSO with PA's. Offline play with the same character like in PSO. I use to hold PSO parties all the time. People would just bring their memory card, and all was good. 4 player split screen, and with the same character you could go online good times. NOT with PSU. I don't want my character to only be on a server. All in all I can't wait for the game. If there is a console port I hope you could play your same character through all platforms. Maybe someday.

I would love to see return of old monsters, but at the same time they have to throw in new things aswell. But as far as it goes for throwing in things which were in the original PSO, I really hope I can go hunting for a Double Cannon. That weapon is just too cool. I was actually abit sad when I saw that PSZ had Lavis Cannon, but not Lavis Blade or Double Cannon.

.

I also totally agree with being able to use the same character for offline aswell as online. Seeing as it is on PC it would totally awesome if they threw in a LAN-function. That's one thing I missed about PSU which PSO had sort of, bringing over a memorycard and then just playing there. I think a LAN-function for the game would sort of bring that back a little bit since it will be for PC.

Yes the return of the Double Cannon or any of the others. I would love to see the TJ sword again.

*sigh* People talking about PC being a poor choice; stop basing your opinion on US sales and practices; PSOBB is still running and running strong in Japan. We are not their #1 priority here, it's as simple as that. Yes most Phantasy Star material gets brought over here, but they're focusing and basing their decisions on where it is most popular.

PSO2 better FU*KIN' come out on console any one I don't care cause PC is bad! No keyboard gaming! Unless they use something like star wars galaxy at the begining...

ya guess your right and it was fun playin' pso on the Dreamcast with the keyboard but its get new computer for $400 or trade in my old game system and buy the most resent one for $100-200 (as long as they don't have move or that other crap for the xbox on it that would be horrifying to see on such a brilliant game)

On the comment about White Beast, it's actually one of my favorite missions and the reason for that has nothing to do with the exp and MP bonus. I just found it to be a very fun mission. It's a shame it got overrun by players who only ran it for quick grinding.

Woooooo great show and yeah I think the expanded colony hub for pso2 sounds nice. Something i had thougt about, an expansive yet centralized lobby of some sort. Really looking forward to future podcasts and news on pso2.

Loved the podcast. Keep them coming. Glad to see people that love the game as much as I do. I would be very happy with any version they put out with the exception of WII. I don't want to deal with the lack of storage and low level graphics.
.
PC introduces hacking for sure. I have loved the fact that 360 servers have been pretty much hack free. Only glitches, as mentioned before, have been an issue.
.
My hopes for PSO2 are: Mags return, Partner machines stay, techs go disc based again, less lag, same content releases as japanese (weapons, missions), more classes, let master forces shoot a pistol (eggs) come on, picture chat, and word select.
.
I remember seeing the japanese commercial of the girl playing PSO and the picture chat came up. Still gives me goosebumps.
.
Bought my DC for this, and I would buy any other console this would come out on. Done deal.

I really enjoyed the first PSO World Podcast and I'll definitely be looking forward to the next one!

Although, at this point, we can pretty much only speculate about how PSO2 will be like, I found the Podcast's discussion about it to be quite interesting. I do hope Sonic Team can achieve a good battle system from the start, as opposed to PSU's battle system which basically consisted in spamming photon arts over and over again, with almost no regard to the normal attacks and with little depth involved, as was mentioned in the Podcast.

As for the platform for PSO2, it intrigues me that it is currently only announced for the PC. I do not intend to judge beforehand, but, if they do intend to somewhat return to the origins of PSO, which was a console game - and where the series enjoyed notable success - I find it strange seeing this only being released for the PC. If they do release it exclusively for the PC though, they better have some good anti-hacking measures, something the online Phantasy Star series isn't very famous of.

I was kind of surprised it wasn't mentioned in the Podcast but, according to PSO World, PSO2's enigmatic trailer makes references to "Dark Falz" and the "Great Light", among other things. This may mean that PSO2's setting and storyline may go back not to Ragol, but to the Algol solar system of the first four games in the series, where at least the Great Light has more meaning, for those who played the first games.

Although it definitely has its flaws if we take into account today's competition in the online RPG genre, PSO was an excellent game at the time it made its debut on the Dreamcast; it was the game that made me step into the online RPG genre. And, so far, no other online RPG managed to achieve that magical feeling of PSO, either felt when progressing throughout the game for the first time with no idea what to expect from the next area or next boss, intrigued by the vague yet engaging storyline, or felt simply when leveling and searching for those special SPECIAL WEAPONs alongside with teammates in harder areas and in harder difficulty levels. Admittedly, I can't say I have huge expectations for PSO2, but I do hope it manages to achieve part of PSO's "magical feeling" and sense of innovation where, in my opinion, PSU fell short.

Lastly, I'll just add that, although I've already been checking PSO World for years now, I've only recently registered, so yeah, also looking forward to make my own contribution to this community, however small (my contribution) may be.
