Elusive? I must need some sort of a community outreach program. It was cool though...I'm not invited into many homes nowadays.
It was great to hang out a bit with the other guys. I don't believe I've spoken with any of them before. There was some good discussion behind the scenes that we'll have to pick up on later.
Another nice Podcast. Listened through it all and I must say it was quite interesting.
Not much to add to what's been said here, but I'm still intrigued by one thing: it was mentioned around 25:00 that some of the PSO Episode 4 tracks were based on previous music from the original Phantasy Star series. The Episode 4 tracks are still fresh in my mind but maybe my memory's failing when it comes to the older titles, because I don't remember such a connection. Could someone give the exact names of the original songs? Just curious.
As a last note, I think the 15 minutes spent on bear maintenance may have been a bit too much though, since I'm not particularly interested in that topic; but that's my personal opinion, of course, and I do understand it was a requested topic.
Lastly, maybe kind of a silly question but, as I did with my comment on the first PSO World Podcast I'm putting this comment here on the Comments section, although I noticed there's also a dedicated forum thread. Is any of these 2 means more encouraged to use than the other, as far as presenting our questions and feedback goes?
I found the HTML files from my old site where I listed some notes on the remixed songs in Ep.IV. Here's a copy-paste (with slight reformat) of the two entries I had:
Main Theme (Phantasy Star III) -- Nostalgia in Solitude -PART1- (Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst Ep.IV): You can hear the melody of Phantasy Star III's "Main Theme" beautifully mixed into Ep.IV's "Nostalgia in Solitude -PART1-" starting around 02:13 and running until about 02:37.
Dark Force, City of Darkness (Phantasy Star III) -- Nostalgia in Solitude -PART2- (Phantasy Star Online Blue Burst Ep.IV): The opening section of "Nostalgia in Solitude -PART2-" was actually inspired by Phantasy Star III's "Dark Force." A few rhythms were slightly altered to better suit the faster tempo of "Nostalgia," but the notes remain the same between both songs. This then leads into a recurring piano section which was derived from the main melody of Phantasy Star III's "City of Darkness."
Heh, thanks for going through the trouble, EspioKaos. Anyway, now that you mention it I think I've yet to play Phantasy Star III, but in the podcast it was also referred (not by you, EspioKaos, I believe) that one of the Phantasy Star IV's themes was also used in the Wilds as a part of the "battle music" (aka "PART2", I assume), and Phantasy Star IV was a game I did certainly play, so that was what mostly piqued my curiosity.
I know at least of some other three songs from the pre-PSO Phantasy Star saga who were mixed into some of the PSO soundtrack's themes, so I'm not surprised that could happen in Episode 4; it's just that PSO Episode 4's soundtrack didn't sound familiar to me at all when I first played the game, as far as can I remember.
I hope to god these 2 new 'titles/names' they've trademarked aren't another generic brand of Phantasy Star game. They need to stick with what sold well (Not a fan of Phantasy Star Portable as it still isn't PSO :I ). If Sega/Sonicteam was smart...they'd just remake PSO and port it to the PSP. Shit would sell like hotcakes. I've always dreamed of playing PSO on the PSP...god that'd own.
Great podcast again. I totally did not know about the SEGA community event, and luckily I live in the Bay Area. I signed up, and looks like I'll most likely be on the wait list, but it's worth a shot ;). Keep em comin.
many phantasy star game but yet were stuck with SAME story line for the xbox 360. why sega just bring the psp2 saga to are server it be much easy if they just give us what we really want than just sit here hearing some guys talk about how they experienced psp2 or recapping the pso saga its self. we understand that is nice for u guys making the pso podcast thing but really let talk about the really issue. let talk about the game its self why not tell everyone on how sega is messing up and not focusing on customer needs like very bad drop rate issue, log on problem and other thing. give them what they want to hear than just give us the long speach road.
I doubt anyone would want to hear a show consisting of opinionated rants against certain Phantasy Star games, or any of them, for that matter. We'd like to keep this show positive and pleasant for people to enjoy, not to get their blood boiling.
As serious issues pop up, they'll probably be talked about.
Didn't they bring out some issues in the first podcast?
I personally see this the podcast of a way to relax while listening to news I wanna hear. I can't wait for more news about PSO2 or those two PSO2 titles. I also hardly played PSU online so I think it's nice to hear what I missed out on. But that's just my 2 cents ^_^
Hey something interesting I just noticed, is that in the beginning of the Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity trailer you see a ball of flame in the outline of Olga Flow, and you also see two Red Rings in the background so im a little convinced that even though the PSP series seems to be set at the end spectrum of the time line (after the PSU series) that maybe they will continue with the entire Phantasy Star series right where Infinity ends? Maybe with the 2 new releases (if they are games) or PSO2. Thats just a thought. I know this sounds kinda obsurd because the game is called PSO2 so naturally one would think it would just be the universe PSO is set in but wouldnt it be kind in their interest to merge all the fans of all PS games? Obviously there are some people who may like PSU but hate all the others or vice versa. Plus if they are looking to make a really epic game I think it would be in their benefit to merge all the Phantasy Star series into one game, but of course with some new fresh original content that is unique. If both the storylines of all PS games and the best aspects of gameplay mechanics were merged together into one game (PSO2) I think that would be like the grand daddy of MMORPGS, seeing as it would almost instantly look refined because of all the previous games and already correcting their mistakes in those to perfect PSO2. I guess time will tell but I really hope they do XD.

Good work, keep it up.
