By Ryna at 12/03/2010 - 6:17am
Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity (Japan)An exciting new trailer was released earlier today for the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity. This trailer features a Nagisa/Hyuga fight, several cameos by the major characters, Olga Flow, and what appears to be the remnants of Pioneer 2! Here is the video:

Also, the Japanese website was updated today with entries for the following enemies:The Official Blog indicates that Mirage Blasts are being adjusted so they will be faster and stronger.

Credit goes to Mike for bringing us this news. You can share you thoughts in this forum thread.

It was indeed Olga Flow, but that shouldn't be all that big a surprise, given the abundance of PSO monsters in PSP2. What gets me, is that apparent Pioneer ship at the end.

Well apparently is the very same Pioneer 2! OMG I'm so exited, I wonder how Pioneer 2 arrived from Ragol to Gurhal system and how will PSO story will fit in PSP:2i, I hope they will releas more details soon because I wonder how can Olga Flow can still be alive? Did the ancients resurrected him? Could this mean that PSO Dark Falz returned? Who knows, but I'm sure the game will be EPIC! Peace.

The middle of the ship does not match ponieer 2. So It must be one or three?

I haven't finished all the story in Portable 2 yet, but it does make me consider more into who "the Ancients" would've been, their initial story behind them, along with how Seed and EP3 could then relate to each other, etc. Another question becomes then, is PSO2 to be the story between PSO and Universe, or is Infinity leading up to the beginnings of PSO2?

this video give the chills OMG!!!! the PIONNER ship looks a bit different though...like a temple of sorts...my god...i´ll have to buy my psp quick!!!! this game would be the pinnacle of the Universe saga. did you guys note that the pioner rise again to the skies?? god i´ll cherish that moment

by Purple Lamplight on Fri, 12/03/2010 - 9:26pm
I knew it! I always had a feeling that one of those planets were Ragol and the pioneer proves it. I think its Parum.

by UberRottweiler on Fri, 12/03/2010 - 11:53pm
UberRottweiler's picture
I dont think so because Ragol was the only suitable planet in the system where PSO events took place, also at the end of chapter 1 Mika told the main character that the ancients created humans in the gurhal system, the Pioneer 2 arrived to Ragol 7 years after Pioneer 1, if my memory serves me correctly there is no mention of other nearby planets in all PSO episodes. Peace.

by Purple Lamplight on Sun, 12/05/2010 - 8:07am
Actually if you watch the original trailer when its showing the explosion on Ragol's surface you can see a planet the looks similar to moatoob nearby. Also in the opening screen you can see 2 other planets.

by UberRottweiler on Sun, 12/05/2010 - 3:42pm
UberRottweiler's picture
But then why Mika said that the ancients CREATED humans in Gurhal System? If Parum is Ragol then In PS:P2 we have a gigantic plothole, also I've watched again the intro movie and there is no planet near Ragol, you sir have a big imagination I see only stars in the background when the explosion is shown, If you are talking about the 3 circles within PSO's mandala I think they are representing the three AIs; Calum, Vol Opt and Olga. Peace.

by Purple Lamplight on Mon, 12/06/2010 - 6:39pm
Theres a large difference in a intro movie a commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XcLXOMNIsqE Watch that youtube video or fireup your dreamcast if you have one and pop in pso version 2 and look in the background of the opening screen. You can see a orange and a greenish planet. Heres links to pics of the pso opening screen http://segaretro.org/images/thumb/4/4c/Psonline_title.png/320px-Psonline_title.png

I probably missed this because I played Game Cube's PSO, but they look like moons not like Moatoob (It has no rings) and Neudaiz, but we still have the gigantic plothole concerning the ancients creating the human species in Gurhal System according to Mika and not metioning the Pioneer 1 & 2.

by zandra117 on Sat, 12/04/2010 - 1:44am
zandra117's picture
Apparently those digital looking cubes rose up out of the ground and combined into the form of Pioneer 2. Add this to the fact that the ancients exist on a higher dimension and can possess gurhalians like digital avatars and we now have a new crazy theory that PSU takes place within the vr system of either Pioneer 1 or 2 of PSO with virtual battles between the AIs Calus and Olga fighting over control of the MOTHER system. cue Star Ocean 3 ending lol

And again the graphics look better watching the in-game video's... :-P (This story could go any way, as seeing the fight between the main character and Hyuga), perhaps you even start (or end) off as the bad guy (or assumed bad guy), which I always find a nice twist to have in a game... Also, I take Nagisa over Emilia any day... XD

Ok somthing is a little off here cuz although that looks like pioneer 2 you should read what every opening of PSO games say here: The "Pioneer Project" A plan born of Desperation, conceived in response to the imminent destruction of their home worlds. Which means the home worlds of CAST NEWMAN HUMAN and BEASTS so this means that the dementional rifts that occurred were either opened by Ancients or Pioneer 1 that's why we seem to have PSO monsters and Weapons on the PSU series so im about 90% sure that PSO2 is all about the destrution of the Ghural system

kinda suck that they bring the best boss ever Olga Flow to the psp2 >.> why cant they just upgrade psu game for the 360 instead of giving us a lame event >.< I am not gonna pay 199$ for psp just to play the game.plus the grafx on the game is super lame. why sega is doing this. cant they see we want it for the console not on the lame portable. an super lame for then to do this in the first place :(

by Rock Eastwood on Sun, 12/05/2010 - 2:32pm
Rock Eastwood's picture
Because portable is a cheaper less expensive easy way out of finishing the PSU story while adding lots of new content on to new disc, because they already wasted too much space on the console discs and they can't implement all the already awesome stuff on to pc without it being a whole new game, and xbox and ps2 getting jealous. psp graphics, ps2 graphics...same thing. >3>

This made me nerd rage inside, but my higher brain function says, "Um... what the hell is going on here?" Isn't this some kind of a heresy? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't SEGA announce a long time ago that PSO and PSU were in no way connected? Can someone please explain, at least somewhat, what I'm looking at here? I mean, I only beat PSP1 and never really got to play 2, but... I just don't get it.

wow all for that reason for sega being cheap. Man if sega hq will listen to some reason on how we the gamers feel about all this. they need to stop spending there time on silly portable games and focus on more on console

You're trippin. The portable PSU games are some of the best games out right now. PSP2 is awesome and PSP2i looks to be even better. Any Phantasy Star player who isn't playing PSP2 is missing out - point blank period.

CROSSOVER...crossover...damn...PSO2 could be the ending of PSU series and/or just the continuation of the PSO EPIII But looking at it closer, it appears "That ship"(could be pioneer 1 or 2) WAS buried and dug up...some how? http://phantasystarlegacy.files.wordpress.com/2010/12/pioneer2maybe.png @0:21 a chunk of land is dug up/lifted with the same type of rocks falling similar from "That Ship" lol ...it almost looks like Ragol....the real one

You wanna know why it's on PSP and not 360? Money. Sega wants it, PSP (and DS) prints it in Japan, consoles don't. Simple.

"A Nightingale pond"? You really are trippin! Look JCGamer, SEGA don't sign my checks. I'm trying to help YOU out. I'm giving props to the Phantasy Star Portable games cuz they freakin rock! I ain't no corporate hack or fanboy... I'm a stone cold gamer and my library of games is unfadeable. If you're on these forums it's because you enjoy Phantasy Star and what it gave you on the 360. I can respect that but now you're missing out on some quality games (Phantasy Star among them) cuz you're too busy hatin on the PSP. Have you even tried any of the portable games? PSP2 sold well over 600,000 copies in Japan. Can so many gamers be wrong? Don't go shooting the messenger cuz you don't wanna hear the message...

by GreyWolf360 on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 9:09am
PSp2 run this town tonight....it is what Universe SHould have been...how i see it...pso set the franchise...universe brought something very new...portable 2 brought it all together...and possible PSO2 will be the profect we all been waiting for...until then...PSP is where the Phantasy Star fans SHOULD be

the PSP? are you serious? I dont see a point in spending 200$ some odd bucks on a console for one game, tho it is tempting, but then agian i hate the PSP's control scheme and god only knows that the 3ds will do, since flash carts can hold 250gigs of data now, so its a big possibilty for a bigass game on that system as of next year as well, well all i can do is sit back and wait to see what happens, maybe i'll keep my eyes out for a cheap psp system and get at least psp2, cause i do wanna know the story and all

Say word. It truly amazes me when I see heads still sleeping on the PSP after all it's done. Phantasy Star Portable 2 is a great game but it's far from the only great game on the PSP. With all the refurbished PSPs out there, it really should be a non-issue. Do yourself a favor and invest in one. Between Phantasy Star, Dissidia, Crisis Core, God of War, Metal Gear, Wipeout, Kingdom Hearts, Patapon.... the list goes on... (And let's not even get into how tight God Eater looks). The PSP has nothing to be ashamed of and there's a gang of solid titles waiting for you to get at. 4 real 4 real.

Who's the big monster around 36 seconds? He looks pretty cool. Anyway It's kind of funny how PSU had a fake Falz at first the Dulk Fakis, now PsP is following up with an authentic looking Olga Flow boss. It's geting so confusing I'll just stop here lol

Here's hoping PSO2 doesn't continue to perpetuate this over the top anime garbage. It doesn't belong in the Phantasy Star Universe.
