We hope everyone enjoys! A big thanks goes out to Stephanie Komure from all of us at PSO-World for taking the time to chat with us! Episode 4 is on the horizon, so stay tuned! You can share your feedback on the podcast or make requests in this forum thread.
Well i'll be damned. Ya guys have done it again with another great podcast! Cant wait for ep.4! Keep up the good work guys! And half a year on an MMO? Try and top 6 years.
PS: Emilia haters need to take a chill pill. Come on guys and gals. It aint that damn annoying. It isnt even annoying to begin with! * Whispers* Megid claims another victim.
PSS: Why is it that she has a past that's pretty interesting and sad just like her video game counter part? Coincidence? Maybe. PSSS:Why'd ya leave out this charm? http://www.pso-world.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1235&pictureid=14928 Also Two more words. SEGA! And... Chain 56! Yeah!
8 years here. Though the game I'm talking about have gone through major changes and is by many not concidered the same game anymore.
Anyway, great podcast. I can't wait to hear the next one ^_^
Oh, nono. I don't mean just 6 months on FFXI. I mean 6 months of LIVING IN FFXI. As in... wake up, log in, play play play eat/play pee in a cup/play play play, go to sleep, wake up... and on and on and on... for 6 months... straight. (except the pee in a cup part... I actually got up for that cause I'm awesome! :P) Ya, you know something's up when you get irritated when IRL people take up valuable play time! Sooo... yeaaahh... I had to get outta there and get my REAL life back in order.... which... I'm still not totally convinced I've achieved thus far! haha! ^_~
I now have a new-found respect for Emilia, and voice acting in general. And yes, it is quite the shame that the western release didn't have dialogue outside of cutscenes. Perhaps when Infinity rolls around the corner for overseas Sega would consider that.
Anyway, great job on the podcast, gentlemen and lady. Humoruos and informative. Keep it up!
MEGID!
Emilia could buy a few game point cards and download it from her console if she does decide to check out the classic Phantasy Star games!!! Smiley faaaaace.
Ooh, I haven't checked into that... I didn't know the classic ones were available for....What are they available for? Is it an XBL download? A PSN? Realistically, the classic ones are probably a ways off for me. Tons and tons of current games that I'm dying to play but just can't budget the time for. :(
"Okay, now I'm not hearing anybody, lol"
"MEGID!"
"Aah!"
Stephanie Komure~ <3 <3 <3
I went from not knowing who she was, to being her biggest fan in an hour XD
I'm glad she came here and spoke with us, that's awesome. I wonder how much she charges for a custom Emilia'ish voicemail message, lol. I'd love for Emilia to tell people that I'm too busy playing Phantasy Star to get to the phone ^^;
lol! Yeeaaahh... I can get like that when I'm nervous. Not that Dragwind or HUnewearl_Meira made me nervous... Just the whole feeling put on the spot thing and the recording while flying off the seat of my pants thing. It's weird to say, but while I'm used to being recorded... I always have a script in front of me so I can't really do wrong, ya know? Plus, it wasn't like it was a conversation... it was an interview... so... yeah.. it was just different. haha!
Oh wow! Thanks so so much for giving me the heads up that it was up, Dragwind! I had a TON of fun chatting with you and HUnewearl_Meira! Aaah, I'm cringing just listening. It's not the sound of my own voice (I'm used to that!)... it's just the blah blah blah blah blah! Shut up, me!
Anywho, Ill have to listen to the full thing later tonight because I'm in for a 6 hour drive back to LA. Home for the Holidays! And speaking of, Happy Holidays to all of you! And again, THank you Thank you Thank you for having me!!! :D
Stephanie, you're awesome. Your upbeat attitude is really refreshing, and it was thrilling hearing about your career(s). You should upgrade your Xbox LIVE account to Gold sometime (if you want :P) so you can come chat with me and all my friends! A lot of us play PSP2, and would love to hear from you!
Well. There's some truth to that. In this case, people actually loved Emilia's Western dubbing a lot better than the original Japanese version. Stephanie should be proud about that accomplishment. Very few voice actors dubbing the English version of Japanese titles get such comparative praise thrown at them. Kind of like how the US voice actors and writers, for El Hazard, not only nailed the parts; but they managed to surpass the originals. In this case, a pretty swell compromise between addressing a Japanese-centric title while providing something that sounds more appealing to Western ears. To a degree, that's harder to pull off than normal. Particularly because how the world of PSU/PSP is more anime-shifted. Sound too Western, and then you don't exactly fit the theme Sega created here. As you go back in time, to PSO, and especially to the original series; you have something which is more and more Western and less anime.
Anyway, I remember that I would like the voice from the very moment they released the english trailer with her in it.
I really enjoyed this podcast!
It's my first podcast to hear from this site and I happen to get to know a little bit about Emilia's VA...how lovely! =D
I loved every bit of it, especially knowing some of the ins and outs of the VA industry.
I would love to hear more from you Ms. Komure...
P.S. I think I'll backtrack to Podcast episode 1 & 2 while I'm at it.
My favorite episode so far, and such a welcome surprise. I LOVED the long interview, actually. I'm in design myself right now, a lot unsure but working on marketing myself for that sort of thing, so hearing so much about it was very inspirational. That, and Working Designs reminds me of the best parts of my early teen years with especially Lunar 2.
I have to say though, I really do hope SoA and SoJ decide to put voice acting on top of ALL the Infinity dialogue. It really does make the difference! :)
Well, I don't have the chance to play the game at the moment, but, as a fan of the Phantasy Star series, I appreciated a lot this interview. It was also very interesting to know more about the voice acting business... I myself didn't know much about it, so it made for some good learning.
Lastly, I feel I should personally thank Ms. Komure for joining this community and accepting to take part in this interview; in my opinion it would be so awesome if voice actors and actresses from the gaming industry would follow her example and join the respective communities, sharing their experiences and such.
I'll be looking forward to the next PSOW podcast :)
