Race and Gender

A detailed alpha report has popped up on the PSO2 homepage. Many more graphs are provided than the ones featured in the earlier Tokyo Game Show presentations.

Not surprised by the distribution of races, nor by the distribution of male to female characters. I'm interested in the distribution of gender among the actual players, however. In a game where gender does affect ones' stats, it would be expected to see an unbalanced distribution at first. My guess is the current distribution has nothing to do with stats, though.

I don't find it a "sad" truth at all. It's not my, nor anyone else's business what people do on any game (unless it's piracy, hacking, cheating, etc.). More power to them for wanting a 12-year-old with E-cup breasts.

It doesn't need to be someone's business personally to find something sad. Anyway on the charts, not many surprises. Gender chart, no surprise and hey Sega knows their audience. On Race, I can see Cast % Shooting up if they end up having the better stats and/or 'Special.' (True for Humans and Newmans as well I guess, but I see that more likely happening for Casts...) The one chart with a Pet choice was interesting, wonder if they mean Mags or something else like a PM? Though didn't seem to be a popular choice either way.

The breasts size are fine, as long as I can see where I am going and not get killed. Also, considering there will be far more female avatars than males in this game, hopefully, the cast will balance it out later on with much better character designs. Whoever drew the casts, it would be nice if it was more humanoid (ie. Rahxephon/ Gundam/ Zone of the Enders, whoo) etc. Imo, the casts looked a little too stiff.

No surprises here. Outside that miscalculation that Humans would end up being the highest populated instead of Newmen females. Still, a heck of a lot different than PSU, even without the beast numbers. The low male count will mean that if I go FOmar, I could be the few the proud. The still beautiful males of the game. However, I have this distinct feeling that the Western distribution of numbers may skew quite differently.

What got my attention other than the not so surprising G.I.R.L statistic, was this graphic: [img]http://pso2.jp/game/alphareport/image/enquete01.png[/img]. If what little Japanese I know is correct the graph on the left shows that 50% of all players are using just the gamepad. If so, how are they communicating? Are they using a mic, if the capability exists, or does it have an on screen kb like PSO did?

I think the gamepad graphic implies about gameplay by itself, and thus not taking in account social interactions.

I would of been a Cast a long time ago, but the customization for them just isn't as good in my opinion. This seems like its going to change though.

I sorta dun care about other classes,always playing RAcast.Taking other classes as alts only.

hm, can you make a loli with huge breasts? THAT would be disturbing lol. I think we'll see a lot more character diversity (female and male) on western servers though.

I'm gonna main a fonewm, just 'cause I know less people will play as them :p If I make a female, she'll be tall, curvy with normal size breasts. I'm more of a legs and bum person, myself; lovin' the bum-cleavage hunewearl design lol

Of course there are more females than males. This is Japan after all... the place where traditional male characters and inanimate objects are always given a female form and traits.
