In today's Official Phantasy Star Blog update, concept art for several weapon classes was posted. Also, it was announced that the Phantasy Star Online 2 Mailing List is accepting new signups. Mike posted the following details:

"Other news in today's blog is that anybody who wants to can now sign up for the PSO2 mailing list. You can sign up here if you don't have a SEGA ID. Or you can sign up here if you already do. Everyone who signs up for the mailing list will automatically be given a chance to participate in the second alpha test. It looks like there will be another drawing for participants so just signing up doesn't mean you will get to participate. You will get entered in to a drawing to pick new participants. (from the PSO2 twitter account) Previous testers are guaranteed a spot in the second test though."

The character in the sword pic had better be a revised version of HUnewm. If it is, then I'm definitely playing as one.

I signed up　：）　Oh to create an account you have to use IE and enable JP　language in the options. But you'll come across a JP captcha so　i hope you know how to type JP　：P

Isn't there a thread on the forums somewhere on how to sign up? If not, I might be able to help and make one, granted Skyward Sword doesn't consume my life anymore.

I love the Saber(Gunblade) and the Rod, but I'm hoping that the Partisan/Lance weapons will return more to the original PSO look. Maybe a long handle like the Rods and the blade attachment like a Saber(Gunblade)?

Most of the weapons look like the standard PSO fare, specifically non-SPECIAL weapons. I can see using that basic saber, trading up to the blue-purple-red blade before I start getting the good stuff. Maybe that element of the original PSO will be nixed in favor of the PSU and Zero model of having interesting weapons earlier on. My biggest gripe is with the rifle. I don't want every model of rifle I find to arbitrarily have a scope and grenade launcher. This isn't BF3 or MW3, I'm not trying to say I want an ACOG scope, underbarrel shotgun, suppressor and juice maker, though I wouldn't be opposed to some customization. I simply don't want to see every rifle user running around launching grenades from rifles that always have the same accessories. Maybe instead of an underbarrel launcher, some rifles will have longer bursts or range. Maybe the attachment will affect a particular skill. Bayonet for close range attack, grenade launcher for splash damage, bipod for slow firing shot with high crit rate. People may be able to attach what they want, or look for random drops or sales that come with the accessories they want.
