• Possible prevent on the BSoD. Never lose anything again.

Ambrai writes, " I got this from the Japanese boards and it seems to be tried and true. "

You can prevent losing any items or your char on the BSoD by NOT unplugging your modem cable. All you need to do is keep your auto disconnect at 15 minutes and wait for it to disconnect you automatically. The reason to keep it at 15 minutes is because it can take between your auto-disconnect time up to double the auto-disconnect time. So you would want it at the bare min otw it would take forever to disconnect.

The offical word from Sega is that the BSoD is a server side error that is produced by the routing method they are using. They have stated that this WILL NOT be fixed. Gotta love the A+ customer service.

Well people, only time will tell. After doing research I strongly believe that this is true and we can prevent losing anything at the BSoD.

it is a server side problem for explain why (if it is a dreamcast probem for each individual) everyone gets kicked off at once when i thappens, i have used the method he spoke of and i got back on and i was the first person in oberon 0101 so you gotta admit that it is a server probelm or else only a select few would do it. anyways dont mean to bash you but i dont want others uninformed.

It seems that may be true on the Jap version, but it doesn't seem to matter on the US version. I have gotten the BSoD and unplugged my cord. Then my DC went into the saving mode when the connection was lost. Go figure???

You're all forgetting, if you didn't know, the Dreamcast operates on Windows CE. Ever since Windows 3.x the BSOD (BLUE Screen of Death) has plagued Windows users. Now it has moved off the PC and onto the console system. The fact that it's black has nothing to do with it, with a windows tweaking utility you can change the color of it on Windows 9X and up. This is NOT a server-side error. It has NOTHING to do with the internet connection. Sega should do more research into their own work. I had a BSOD OFFLINE TWICE. I've had it on other games as well (Omikron, Starlancer) I don't know if it's my Dreamcast having an error in it's version of WinCE or what but I do know it is NOT what Sega claims.

The Solution: there isn't one. Call up Microsoft and Sega and tell them they need to learn how to create a decent OS and console system.

Why even bother with the Dreamcast anymore? After the X-Box comes out PSO and every other DC game will become so unpopular that the DC will be retired like the Genisis/Saturn were. I've already seen screen shots of Unreal Championship for X-Box and it makes the DC look like the old Genisis. It's pathetic. Sega was smart to stop making DCs, they knew they were out-done by the very people who helped them create the DC. What a wonderful world, eh?

The best way to prevent any damage from a BSOD is SAVE OFTEN! When you get a new item, something rare that you don't want to lose, SAVE! This way when a BSOD strikes all you have to do is pull out your VMU and turn off the DC. No big deal. Works the same for FSODs.
