JP Gamecube Server Shutdown
By Ryna at 03/31/2007 - 5:13pm
PSOGCThe Japanese Gamecube Phantasy Star Online servers were shutdown earlier today. Shortly before they went down, over 4000 people were playing on the Japanese servers. The EU servers are still reported to be up, but it is unknown how long they will remain online. It is unfortunate that the US servers were mysteriously shutdown earlier in the month. Only Japanese and European players were able to fully enjoy the last month. If you would like to share your thoughts, you can post in our Phantasy Star Online forum. It certainly has been a memorable run.

White Day Event on Gamecube PSO
By Ryna at 03/07/2007 - 8:28pm
PSOGCCranberry writes, "Sonic Team has loaded the White Day theme onto the Gamecube servers. This will likely be the last official holiday event on Gamecube PSO since the official servers will be shutting down at the end of the month. Since the webpage does not list an ending date for this event, it can be assumed that White Day may run until the server shutdown. "

By Tomeeboy at 02/05/2007 - 9:40am
PSOGCIn a recent announcement on the official Sega of America / PSO message board, Sonic Team confirmed the shutdown of the PSO GameCube servers. It was also stated that new account registration would no longer be available as of this week. As mentioned before, players who have active accounts may continue playing until March 31st, 2007, with the final month (March) being free. In the announcement, Sonic Team thanked everyone for the good times on PSOGC and encouraged anyone who enjoyed the game to check out Phantasy Star Universe.

Thanks to Cranberry for the news!

PSO Christmas Updates
By Ryna at 12/01/2006 - 9:27am
PSOGCOn November 28, the Christmas theme was activated on the Gamecube servers. It will be available until December 26th. During this time period, you will be able to obtain Christmas Presents off the ever-elusive Saint Rappy. If a Christmas Present is opened, you will receive a random mag cell! Also, the Pioneer Christmas quest is making its seasonal appearance.

In the meantime, the North American XBox servers are celebrating the first-year anniversary of the "Eternal Christmas". For the last year, the Christmas theme has been active. Despite the best efforts of several forum members, it looks like the XBox servers will never been updated again.

There has been no official announcements about the Christmas theme being activated on the US/EU Blue Burst servers.

US Server Situation Update
By Ryna at 07/16/2006 - 8:50am
PSOGCClumsyOrchid has posted an update on the US Gamecube server situation on the Sega's forums. According to his post, a server maintenance issue is preventing people in the United States from logging on to the servers. Sega is aware of the issue and will try to get the servers back online as soon as possible. This announcement may come as little comfort to those that have been waiting for almost two weeks to get online, but at least the issue is being addressed. If you wish to express your displeasure about this situation, please post in this thread.
