In Phantasy Star Universe, you will have to create a character if you wish to play the game's Online or Extra Modes. Using the game's in-depth character customization system, you will be able to adjust numerous body and facial features. This guide will cover what is currently known about the character creation system. Also, keep in mind that your characters for Online and Extra Modes will be separate.

The following is the process you will have go to through to create your character:

1. Choose a race/gender combination for your character based on each one's strengths and weaknesses.
2. Create a face for your character. You'll be able to customize a number of different facial features.
3. Customize your character's height and proportions.
4. Select your character's outfit by mixing and matching jackets, pants, and shoes. Also, you'll be able to select a voice-type for your character. The voice type can be fine-tuned using a voice pitch slider.

The character creation process for a Cast is a little bit different. Based on the shape of your face and color of your skin, you will be able to select from different helmets and clothing. After that, you will be able to choose from the following three categories: arm, body, and legs. Based on your choices, you will be able to make your cast look very human-like or very robotic in nature.
