• Episode III Memory Card

OniLink writes, "According to IGN Cube, Hori will be releasing a PSO Episode III-themed Memory Card 251 with five cards pre-loaded on it. It will cost 2,200 Yen."

Here is the full news from IGN:

To coincide with the Japanese release of Phantasy Star Online Episode 3, Hori will be releasing a special Memory Card 251 themed in the game. Hori tends to do this with all major games, but the difference this time is that something actually comes on the card from the outset!

Those who pick up the 2,200 yen memory card will find five special in-game cards already saved to memory and ready for use in the title. We're not sure if you'll be able to get these cards anywhere else, so big time fans of PSO may want to look into importing the Hori memory card.

The card will work on a US Gamecube but the save will only work for the Japanese PSO epIII game. Also, if you chose to use the card with US games, you must reformat it.

I agree. PSO episode 3 is really stupid. Its' like that game call Yukiyo. I like the action/RPG type in PSO 1 & 2.

i for one am looking forward to the game, in hopes that it won't be possible(without cheating device) to dupe/hack the cards, and the fact that it adds a new edge to a great series. on this note, i am seriously hoping that this memory card is released in america.

All right, first off, it's Yu-Gi-Yo. If you're going to dis something, then at least spell it right. Second, you may be disappointed with the turn that Episode 3 is taking, but it's not a surprise. A PSO trading card game has been planned since day 1. Camineet.net has had pictures of early versions of the cards since January of this year, and those pictures had been sitting on the hard drive of a PSDB member for a year or two when Mike Ripplinger got them from him, and added them to Camineet.net.

Third, get over your "Ew, it's a CCG! Those are for little kids, like Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Yo!" thing. The fact that you automatically associate a CCG with Pokemon and/or Yu-Gi-Yo dates you into those games' targetted age range. Credit for the first CCG goes to Magic: The Gathering, which I recall being rather popular my freshman year of high school. That's a good 8 years ago, now. That particular CCG featured themes mature enough that religious groups tried to get it banned in the United States for being "of the devil". It also inspired a great many clones of the game, INCLUDING Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Yo, Dragonball, plus a number of others that've mostly never been heard of.

Quite frankly, I'm looking forward to something new. The thus far traditional application of Attack-Attack-Attack is starting to get old for most, and by golly, it'll still be there when Episode III appears-- possibly with new players on the servers. Besides that, it'll be nice to finally get some closure on the Rico/Flowen story arc, and hopefully we'll find out what happened to Elenor, Montegue, Ash, Bernie, Sue and Rupika. Not to mention, find out who that RAmarl is, and why Gilliam protects her.

Sit it out and see how it turns out before you pass judgement.

I went to a currency converter website, and 2,200 Japanese Yen is app. $19.94 in American Dollars.

Hmm, that's not bad for a Memory Card 251 with 5 pre-loaded cards in it.

I don't see why not... I have some saved Japanese games on my US memory card though the saved Japanese cards probably won't work on a US PSO III game though.
