• New Battle Tactics Video

Sonic Team has released a new Hal video that showcases several changes being made to the battle system in Ambition of the Illuminus. The video contains before/after comparisons of the new Just Attack, Just Counter, and Evasion systems. These changes will allow hunters to chain together attacks, counter enemy attacks, and dodge more effectively. Credit goes to Allison_W for bringing us this news. You can discuss this video in our Phantasy Star Universe forum.

This will change the way how fighters will & should fight. It's a small change, but can have a big effect in the battle system.

Well, this looks like an optional system, but this will change how we damage enemies (at least for melee attackers). I'm glad, though; this gives more depth to the combat without making it as stilted as PSO's combat felt.

From the looks of it, Sonic team is fine tunning the actual area where the mob's attack will swipe. In other words, strafing to the side will actually allow you to avoid an attack at the last second. This is beneficial for all classes.

In PSU PC/ps2 to date, atempting to strafe around the mob at the last second doesnt work, as the attack will still impact you reguardless that visually you should of avoided the attack.

As for the "Counter" system, theres nothing special about it, players will have free control to attack after "guarding" against an attack. As opposed to now, where your stunned and unable to attack or control your character for a split second when "guarding" against an attack (which leaves you vulnerable to incoming attacks from other mobs which often results to GG for Techers).

Hopefully Sonic Team will also address the issue where mobs will apear at different locations of a room for different players in the same group. (pc/ps2 servers)
