1UP Thinks Sega Needs Saving - Here's How They Would Do It

I wouldn't want Phantasy Star to be like final fantasy. I hate the way final fantasy is in almost every way. But I guess the popularity would be nice.

It doesn't say that Phantasy Star should evolve in to Final Fantasy, it says it could evolve like Final Fantasy.

And by that they likely mean that it could have continued on and had many more successful games. For example: right now, if you ask a random gamer if they know about Final Fantasy they will most likely say yes. Ask a random gamer if they know about Phantasy Star and you won't get nearly as many positive answers... especially among younger generations. (And if they've heard of it, it's from PSU and they now hate the series. Seriously, I've seen it happen. I'm in high school and I only know one other person who likes the Phantasy Star series.)

I've been saying that for a while (no one knows about Phantasy Star, that is). Phantasy Star has a very "underground" fanbase, and I think that's a sin considering how good the franchise is as a whole. I really wish Sega would step it up a notch and make Phantasy Star their headline franchise, and put Sonic the Hedgehog on the back burner for the near future, at least (not that I don't like Sonic, but I'm convinced that Phantasy Star has the most potential at the moment).

I was looking at PS's history. It was the SEGA version of FF with the same gameplay, character designs, map designs, weapons, ect. If given the starting popularity of FF, PS could have easily kept those features. Besides that though I would quite like to see PS gain it's popularity at this time as the games are of a higher quality (believe it or not). If your like me you miss how games use to be like in the Action RPG area (PSU represents these well) and SEGA is the only one even offering a newer game with these qualitys maintained. *sorry for the length*

lets not get carried away; PS is a totally different franchise. There is actually very little in comparison. I respect ff seven, but would rather spend an eternity running white beast than ever touching a ff game again.

That basically explains it all how Segac treats its EU/NA Fans is a fucking joke. And most of the fans just sit there and take it like it is no big deal. How is anything going to change if people put up with segas fuck NA/EU attitude. Nothing is going to change simple as that...

It's utterly mindblowing how sega can create an amazing ew IP like Valkyria then immediately destroy it and its fabase with a sequel that has recieved very mixed views.
Sega have the IPs to be one of the best developers, but they'e doing very stupid things, or nothing with them. I just hope they get the next Phantasy Star right, as I've given up hope on:
- a Shining Force that doesnt suck
- a Skies of arcadia sequel
- a new Dragon Force
and a million others

Lets face it PSU needs to have more content how about a planet that has pvp (personaly I dislike pvp) but it would increase the game play by thousands. and ad a new update with 2 or three new planets I know people would pay up to 1600 MSP for it,ad new monsters segestion names Zenogrogs a mini dragon that has snakes on its shoulders that spit poison? a terospere a grass like monster that has mental waves that confuse and cause increasing damage if not healed? a trampledrake a huge duck looking monster that charges you and can cause shock? how about the unknown 307 as a monster and the pahra my God sega its not the hard to come up with ideas.Planet names Quontinz, Gothus,Nitrouz,this took me 15 mins to come up with so if I can do it so can you Please save OUR PSU Sega.

The chance of Sega making new planets or new enemies on Psu is about as good as you going out and finding a leprechaun sitting outside your place of living. Psu is long dead on Eu/Na Id rather see them put that money into a new game rather into a dieing game.. if not already basically dead.:?

Your really negative. The game really hasn't died. It has had the same population since start (don't even mention the stars!). I hear every idiot say "Only one universe gets filled every day when back in the day it was two!" Correction, I know players that had the game at the start and I too had it at the start(although i quite after 2 months of playing do to monitary issues) and the first universe was always filled granted but universe two? No, only once in the 2 months i played. Plus the server sizes are larger than origanaly. Remember "back in the day" when universes where unnamed and there was 40 of them? Ya, now there is 20 but with a larger capacity, do the math. ***and they do have the pahra as an enemy but isn't currently on the 360 servers. (in JP a new enemy is added about every .8 years, kinda' lame) *sorry for the length*

Sega is a Joke and like many said before the NA/EU gets spit on by Sega after walking threw a long hot desert. Lets face the facts here Sega isn't going to change in these 2 Countries. Infact I can bet money is is some sort of pay back for how we treated Sega back then, I really if they put little bit more time in there games then it would come out great. (We really shouldn't be rushing for another Sonic game) its No Doubt that alot of Sega games have Ample amount of potential. I'm Still waiting for them to do it right tho. there will be a time when they understand that its time to get back on track...as for PSU, idk its just going to take so much to fix that game.

OK. Even if it is 1 Universe Full there are 6 count it 6 Universes in Japan. So how am I being negative? I spoke the truth this game is a failure in Na/Eu simple as that. And where was I wrong? Was I wrong when I said Sega gives to shits about Eu/Na part of its fan base? Well sorry, The pahra is in the second sup. update WHICH THEY HAVE!!! Saying it is a failure is a negative statement in itself. Obviously you don't play many games like PSU, wait, noone does because it's the last one of it's kind (atleast on Xbox 360) Maybe japan does get 6 universes full but who cares. This isn't japan dude and people here only want to play WoW or play with butt buddys in MW and none of them have even played a game like PSU. In japan the game is actualy advertised where as here it isn't. I haven't met a single person that honestly dislikes PSU as a game. I have gotten people to try even the pathetic demo to get them out of their MW friends bun holes and a week or two later they are paying the fee and asking me to help them get a Lumirus Tag.

Don't forget Shenmue... Even though I've pretty much given up hope long ago...
But I really do have a lot of hope for Phantasy Star with Dragon Sakai. hahah He seems to know what he's doing with the series and he knows fans are looking for a great Phantasy Star game.

I don't care what they said on PSU pedia. What I was saying if you have any common sence at all is that it was ment to be released in the second sup. update meaning they technicaly have it but not the mission to find it.

So by what you are saying is I can dig up and old creature from PSO and say its going to get released with the "second supp update" and have zero evidence to back up what I am saying. If you can show me a statement from ST saying that it is going to be released in the "second supp update" then I will not call what you are saying bullshit but until then your are full of it.

Which is worse. Actualy doing research and looking at the JP server update list for the next few months or you who doesn't even have a current subscribtion to the game yet are on the forums daily? (If I knew how I would quote you but I don't waist my life on the forums, I just jump on before leaving for work or waiting for a pick up) So stop throwing around worthless acusations. I was at fault when I didn't mention that on the pahra but I know from the JP update list they will be recieving a mission with them as a enemy. If you want to prove me wrong you can have fun but atleast go translate some japanese before you acuse and actual player.
