The screens blows more balls than a White House intern. Let PSO die with the Dreamcast, with honor. All those pieces of shit who think that this is a good idea can go lick Nintendo's ass, which most are already.

I just came back from E3 2K1 day one, and fresh from the SEGA press conference with Yuji Naka, Gamecube PSO is PSO 1+V2, offline 4-player splitscreen, until they establish a Nintendo online network (if ever). There was mention of DC files being used on the 4-Player split screen somehow.

Well thats great... but it's not the same. I mean Nintendo doing a game like PSO just seems so wrong. Why would anyone want a 4 player split screen mode?? Yes I know Nintendo is looking for a more party like experince but give me a break. PSO is a true online game for many reasons. Allow people to play 4 player off line and you lose what makes PSO such a great game. But thats just my thoughts and I could be wrong.....

I don't see your point. Dreamcast dies. I'm the first person to be sad with that. Anyway, If you wan't to experience more gaming in the years to come, you'll have to get a console gaming system. So what. Nintendo's not shite, Sony's not shite, Microsoft's not shite. The problem is, which one first. We have PSO & Sonic Team on the GC, plus other Nintendo gems, now, Xbox gets a fabulous Jet Set Radio, and Sony's getting VF4 (which i'm not too keen on) and a sequel to Ulala's ultra kitschissime dancing performance. This IS a difficult choice, I thought I was getting a GC first, with maybe a GBA before, but I want a DVD player, some PS2 games don't look bad, even if I don't like the whole commercial vibe of the Sony system. DC was soooo underground Ah well. To me, PSO v2 doesn't bring anything new to GC. Stick to DC for the time being... but stop telling everything else's shite.

I was just wondering if there would be a 4 player split screen in v2. hen I show my friends PSO they like it... but it gets boring to them cause its 1 player, so I let them pla for a little bit, but then I get bored. I think it be awesome if the player split screen came to DC. It would be really cool. Which makes me think what if 2 players could go online at the same time, maybe one in the game then the other still in the lobby waiting to join the game. OH well I don't think tht will happen but it would make me want to get pso v2 more than I already do.

      Hi all,
Someone wrote on a another forum (sorry forgot his name) that PSO V2 will not be online for the game cube and will just allow you to play in 4 player split mode.
It sense logical for me because it will take too long to create for the game cube an online environement. (PSO V2 normally released at the end of this year)
I hope that PSO V2 and a sequel will be on PS2 because it will be the system which will be online first (except divine DC) and I'm sad to say that I don't think that they will give a true sequel to the DC after PSO V2.
Enjoy all for what we have now and we will see for the future ...

no your right, but it has been nuntendo's pattern to make 4-player split screen games... i do feel thatthe others are right tho.. PSO for the GC isnt the best move they could of made.. espcicaly if they take away from the game like that.... it is a online game.. and if they cant support it in such a way then it should die with the beloved Dreamcast... (besideds i cant understnad why they cant just make a perfcet port of the game)

      Hmmm...
Ok I can see the idea behind this decsion to make PSO a 4 player split screen game for the GC. But what I am still in question about is why Nintendo?
I mean we know that the PS2 is "going" to have on-line gaming as FFXI is supposed to be on-line only so why not just do a PSOv2 port to the PS2 and keep the online parts intact. Why tear out what has caused me many many nights of sleep.
Now from what I have gleened from reading why to many things all over the net is that the PS2 is getting the true sequel to PSO not the v2. I could be wrong but I hope that when the time comes that Sony has there on-line plans in place. We all know how long it took Sega to get it's online plan running and I know it was worth the wait. Lets just hope that Sony's will be to. I mean with Sega now making games for every system and them saying that SegaNet will be opened up to all ... we can only hope for the best. But hey these are just my thoughts I could be wrong

I think taking PSO to the GC is the best decision Sega could have made. It's obviously the best console, funnest, etc. and I believe Xbox is already finished so it was a good move. I dont feel however that a split screen is a good idea. In fact i think it downright blows. I'd rather have no offline multiplayer or no PSO than to have split screen! What not a LAN connection? That would have worked and would have done well. I have also heard that Nintendo's online stuff will be ready by the Cubes launch and if that's true there's nothing to worry about. If it's not true then it's still not a big deal. Online games arent everything

Nintendo will have to realease Pso v. 2 with online playability right? I mean it wouldn't make sense for Sega or Nintendo to release a game with "Online" in the title and not have to be online ready. I mean that would be stupid! That would be like launching your system with a modem installed and not have any online playable games for a year. Or it would be like releasing a system with a dvd player and no modem and say that you are going to release a broadband adapter the next year. Because your almighty company feels that people MUST play broadband only. Or that would be like making fun of another next gen console for having a hard drive, then announce that your console is going to have a hard drive that fall! I mean these companies have more sense then that right?!

Whoa hang on a sec there... best move for Sega umm no. Sega's best move would be to release it for all platforms (yes even PC) as to get the whole world into this great game. Second.... Xbox already finished? What do you mean by that? I hope your not already judging a the system itself. If you are thats just plan nuts. People who judge a product before it out or even after words with out even trying it are morons. But hey thats just what I think and I could be wrong

The thing i think is dumb is if its gonna be offline for gamecube and no online at all then why are they still calling it phantasy star online. I dont know just dont make sense to me but most who want to play will have already got the dc version if it still comes out in july.

In regards to if the GC version will have online play according to nintendojo it will and it will be running on seganet for that matter. If that happens mabye GC players and DC players will be able to play online together which I think would be really cool

Did anyone see the movies that were posted by IGNCube? It sure looks like they have the whole internet play already covered. Also, on the nintendo home page, under the consoles section, there's a pic and brief summary of the nintendo 56k and broadband adapters.

Its looks like its DC version due Sonic Team only having a month to get it up and running. So they just did a quick direct port. They said the Gamecube version will be extremely improved graphics-wise compared to the Dreamcast version by the time its released early 2002. And CubeIGN mentioned that PSO v2.0 for DC won't be out till fall.... I hope thats just a mistake....

why Nintendo? Nintendo is the only next gen system offering both narrowband and broadband. Sony only has plans for broadband and Microsoft is only offering a broadband adapter for it's system also. So the move to Nintendo makes sense. And its clear to me that your a future Sony fanboy. Never ask why a good game doesn't come to YOUR system. Just ask when a good game is coming out.
