• New GameCube to PC Keyboard Adapter Design and White Day Quest Ends

Anonymous writes, "A New GameCube to PC Keyboard Adapter has been released by Allan and Adam of indiglo.net. The adapter will allow anyone to use a standard or wireless PC keyboard with your GameCube to play PSO. We have 28 of them currently on ebay for 45.99. Our adapter differs from that of the Happy Fun Box in that our box will work with 99.9% of the keyboards out there, and does not have a sticky key problem. Our design comes pre-assembled, so no soldering is required.

These boxes are not assembled Happy Fun Boxes. This adapter was designed from scratch, including the code. Although we do give credit to Eric and Adam, creators of the Happy Fun Box, for exchanging info. Thanks Adam and Eric!

Interesting, now we have even more keyboarding solutions aside from the ASCII and Datel Keyboard.

On a completely unrelated note, Sonic Team took down the White Day Quest and lobby decorations on 03/17/03 at 4pm JP time. Wonder when the next event is, Easter maybe?

Cool, cool, cool small it but it SUX!!!!!

Why would you pay $40 on a piece of plastic you can do in a scientific class in college or somethin'. That $20 keyboard is comin' out in few days, why waste $20 more, nth new on pso but ppl fallin' in the lobbies for hours. Chill....don't be tricked.

That small piece could die if I walk on it, but yo, books, table, bags, computer, kids, liquids, rocks, people's ass, all that could break it or mess it up. Well that's about it. Same thing could happen to the $20 keyboard but I don't think it'll happen, just put it next to your comp's keyboard. You know what I mean.

OMG! Someone is trying to help out the community! Quick, tell him how much his product sucks! Sheesh, give me a break will you? Are you always this mean to people who are trying to so something nice for you?

If you think it's so easy to design a keyboard adapter, then why haven't you made one yet? Hmm?

Pretty much every piece of gaming hardware you own would be damaged if you walked on it, so I hardly see where that's an issue.

Seriously, it wouldn't kill you to be a little more appreciative of people's efforts to help out. If you don't want to buy one, then just STFU and don't buy one! Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it sucks.

I have to agree. Why can't people just be happy that someone actually cares enough to help out the community by actually making something to help those who can't afford an ASCII keyboard, or are skeptical of the Datel KB?

Sure, the Datel KB is cheaper, but think of it this way: That's one KB. If there's the slightest problem, too bad, return it. With the adapter, the KB you have messes up. The adapter itself still runs, so just go get another at a local shop, hook it up, and there you go! Maybe I'm the only one that sees the good in that, but to me that's a valid point.

Plus, if your KB does happen to mess up, you don't have to wait for your new one to get to where you live. Just wait until you go out again.

Again, this is just me. *bows* Hope I wasn't offensive.

It's true the KB might mess up... but someone else can easily say that the adapter might mess up as well... (the double edge blade)

These people bought the components and assembeled the devices and are selling them for about twice what the creators sold them for unassembeled. I do have to agree that this is quite the rip off.

Trying to help out the community?!? Heh, more like helping themselves to the community's money! The price for that adapter is beyond reasonable.

Hey, I just wanted to point out that this is NOT a rip off of my design. As I stated in the Keyboard Info thread, I did provide Allan with some assistance, but the design is his own work. His design is very similar to mine in appearance, so the confusion is easy to understand. Thanks for looking out for me, but Allan deserves credit for the his work. I of all people can appreciate what he's done, and I commend him for his efforts.

As for his pricing... it may be a tad steep... but he has every right to charge what he feels is fair compensation for the time and money he spent developing his adapter. If Datel really does come out with their keyboard for $20 on the 28th, then he and I will both have to re-think our distribution strategies.

There's a difference between 'helping' the community and 'feeding off' the community. I bet if he charged $60+ for the adapter, there'd still be people defending him out of blind loyalty. ;p

I hope they drop some nice MAG cells. I never had the fortune of getting one that was legitimate (never kept the dupes, either).

I'm not sure which I'd want .. although the Angel Wings seem rather appealing. Ah, well, we'll see what happens! I wonder what the quest will be?

Heh, I still miss the music and decorations from Halloween! I'll never forget those. That was when I first joined PSO. I'll forever hear "Give it to me" running through my head when I think back on my PSO memories. =)

      Oh hohoho, wasn't it?

Doesn't matter either way, I bought my JP KB months ago.

It's an unofficial product made by some dude in his garage... I'll be damned if I pay someone $50 to break my Gamecube. I see no point in this device being released now; especially with the Datel option just around the corner...
