I was watching an old video of PSO, and PSU does not bring me back to the ginuine, simple, imperfect game of PSO. It doesnt work, its just not the same.

Glad you enjoyed my old video of Endless Nightmare 4!

Heh, I really think people are selling this game too short. PSO had four areas and almost no quests to speak of when it debuted, and I remember a lot of complaining about how there weren't enough areas and variety.

Back in my day to play PSO we had to walk through the snow, UPHILL BOTH WAYS, with wolves nipping at our ankles, and 50lb backpacks!

I still remember my slightly overweight lvl200 Ranger. I swear I didn't know how fat he was for the longest time. I just didn't notice it somehow.

This is nothing but you fearing Change.

Ive been playing PSU Extra Mode offline (havent payed yet).

It seriously sucks that you have to level up to a certian level to play the missions, but after you reach lvl 10, all the missions you do (granted you do them alone, playing with partners is boring.) level you up past the requirement anyway, so it flows just like PSO offline.

After you stop needing to replay missions to unlock the other ones, the game feels so much like PSO you forget your even playing psu, aside from the better graphics, stage design, weapons and photon arts.

The only real thing i favor over PSO to PSU is the music. Im pissed the music is a simple loop instead of having a calm/action version of each track.

That, and sadly techniques in PSO were cooler. lvl 30 spells on PSO look SOOOOOOO much cooler than lvl 30 spells here... I mean, Gifoie actully gave the screen HEAT WAVE DISTORTION.

Im also mad at the way they completely changed the Technic's around to coming from the user's body to coming from the users' weapons. It kinda takes the feel away from your character being a Force. (But i guess it was needed to balance the classes out.)

Besides that, PSU is hands down a better game. Better engine, better graphics, better environments, better content, and overall same gameplay. Its simply PSO on Sterioids and a different clothing style.

Are you bad enough to really save the President when he is kidnaped by ninjas? Or are you just a poser? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_eek.gif

I think the problem though is that, although PSU is better than PSO in terms of gameplay, graphics, and sound, it lacks the same "impact" that PSO had back in its day, relatively speaking. If you were to compare PSU to PSO, one could say PSU is no "PSO" of this day.

True, PSO basically pioneered it's own online genre. PSU follows in it's footsteps with nearly every aspect of the original game improved. However since PSU didn't pioneer it's own genre it seems to have lost some of it's flair to alot of PSO vets. At the same time I think some people were hoping for a more traditional MMO feel in PSU. Then of course are the people with their standards and expectations set too high.

I miss nothing because I burned myself out on it and PSU is a million times better.

Also because as I was already an adult when I played it, I don't suffer from any misplaced nostalgia claptrap.

I defy ANYONE to come forward and say they have such fond memories of how PSO was such a TIMELESS, beautiful game, and uh, be over the age of 25.

I'm 20 and I can barely stand the idea of PSO, but I probably was able to tolerate it longer because of how young I was.

I'm still not sure why I played PSU. Hype?

Hello.

Getting older doesn't matter, but old and bitter tends to warp one's perspective.

How about living the present, and ignoring that melodramatic nostalgia? Those who live in the past should belong in a museum.
