Jogiri SE question

Today I noticed that my friend's jogiri was inflicting the poison status effect on enemies. His sword is of the neutral element.

So, I was wondering if a) the element affects if the SE is on the weapon or not, and b) does the SE depend on the element bound to the weapon.

I am pretty sure element/color of weapon has nothing to do with ability to inflict status effects with melee attacks. Certain weapons have a chance to inflict them.

I actually noticed every now and then that using Buten Shuren-zan inflicts Sleep. I was unaware that there was a second weapon that did something similar. =D

well it say that the jogiri has a small % chance to posion. so element doesnt matter i guess
