Team play w BBA's and 56k modems

What is the best approach for playing on a team with people using both bba's and modems? Last night I, using a modem, experienced some huge lag so that my friends who have bba's would flash in and out when moving. And I was flashing in and out for them too. One minute we are fighting, the next, they left the room and I am still in the room alone. So I couldn't keep up, eventually lost the group, and finally had to give up playing that session.

Do people with bba need to wait at each door so that the slower modem folks can keep up? I have played many times never seen lag time as bad as this. Suggestions are welcome.

Welcome to online gaming, friend. Short of getting broadband yourself there's nothing you can do, since the broadband users are always going to have much, much, less lag than you (Somewhere in the neighboorhood of 200-400 less ping than you, depending on your connection and distance from the server.)
