Weapon Speed, by rank, or by Maker?

I was playing with a cheap new toy yesterday: a 5* Yohemi Sword, and the animation seemed noticable faster than the 4* GRM Sword I typically use.

So, not having the budget to do any serious testing, I was wondering what your experiences have been?

Is it the manufacturer that increases weapon speed? Or is it the Rank? or maybe both

I believe it is rank that boosts speed, if you compare a lower rank to a higher one you can see it if you look hard enough.

This was *noticably* different though. Enought to make me risk grind it a few extra times to buff up the ATP.
