Before I say anything let me just say that I have searched the forum for 3 days now and though I have found many similar topics, I still haven't found a real answer.

I have a Gateway laptop that I bought last year. I don't know computer things, but the specs:

Gateway
MX6450
AMD Turion(tm) 64 Mobile
Technology ML-37
1.99 GHz, 960 MB of RAM

Not the best for games I know, but that's what I have.

The thing is, when I run PSU, everything's in slow motion. I didn't shell out $50.00 bucks for a game in slow motion. Flight Simulator X runs better on my computer.

Is there a way to make the game run better? I've read about different graphics cards, but I don't have them. I've read about making the resolution smaller and disabeling anti-virus... Thanks.

Set the frameskip to 1 and see if that fixes it.

hmm... Yeah frameskip to 1. Also, the Gateway MX6450 comes with an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M Chipset. When was the last time you updated the drivers for it?

Frameskip to 1. Got it. How do I update the drivers? Thanks.

Also take into account that PSU is a horribly inefficient game. This is what I run:

Athlon X2 Dual Core 5000+
2GB of DDR2 533 MHz RAM
Radeon X1300 Pro 256MB
SATA WD Raptor HDD @ 10,000 ms
It's not a premier system by any means but it should be good enough for most games. Not for PSU though. I had to lower my resolution to 1024 x 768, run frameskip 1 and turn down a lot of the distance drawing just to minimize the slowdown in tree-heavy areas like Neudaiz and Parum.

I have practically the same exact laptop as yours. Turion64 2.00Ghz, Radeon Xpress 200 128MB, 1 GB RAM. Even at (nearly) the lowest possible settings the game doesn't run too smoothly. If you want any sort of performance, you going to need to either jack your settings way down low, or see if you can get some sort of uprades for your laptop.

And with laptops usually needing a technician to make upgrades...

EDIT: After tinkering a bit, I got it running without slowdown, but it really, really doesn't look pretty...

Nothing's working so far http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif So, how did you tinker with it? I don't mind crap graphics. It's less annoying that slow motion.

My current settings are:

800x600 (Ew)
16bit color (Not sure exactly how this affects performance)
Frameskip 2
Detail level: Low
Clipping: All 4 set to Low
Compressed textures
CPU Motion calculation
Post effects On (can't live without them personally)
LOD (Whatever that is) set to 12, 15, and 8

I also have my antivirus software disabled while playing.
