View Full Version : Elemental % when synthing, not so random?

10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, 28, 34, 38, 44, 50

Has anyone ever seen a % on a weapon or armor they made that wasn't one of the above?

It seems Sega wasn't happy with 30% being the average of 10 to 50, and geared the synth percents lower by making it every 2 on the low side, and every 6-ish on the higher end, giving you a really low chance of getting over 30%, since only 4 of the 14 values are in that range

This is just assuming that each number has an equal chance to come up as well, with 9 star weapons it feels even more weighted for stuff to come up in the 10-14% range, though maybe thats just because those wepaons sell the slowest, they become the majority of what you see in shops

Anyways if anyone extra info, or has synthed a weapon that wasn't one of the listed percents above, I'd be interested in hearing about it

Please note this is about player synthed items only, don't post saying you have a twin knife with 23% ice, or a ripa-zashi with 31% fire, drops/store bought weapons don't apply

You can synth 30%, and that's the only one missing from that list.

I'm pretty sure that it's not equal chances for everything, else I'd have a lot more 50% weapons than I currently do. It seems that I get more trash (10-18%) than I do 20%+ weapons. 30%+ are quite rare in my experience, even though that consists of 5/15 of the values.

I can say armor snything is in the same boat. 98% in the 10-14% range ugh.

I've seen this in Japanese mass element synthing experiments before; approximately 80% of it becomes anything from 10%~20%, the other 20% could be anything from 22%~50%. I believe that within those two categories the distribution should be fairly equal at least, which would mean that effectively one in 75 succeeded elemental synths should yield a 50% item.

P.S.: I've also seen 30% and 48% stuff, so I do in fact believe all even numbers ranging from 10%~50% are possible options.

I've never seen a 48%, ever. I refuse to believe it is synthable unless I see a screenshot :>

I've noticed the same pattern in percentages and have not seen any that would prove otherwise (with weapons anyway).

It is probably weighted in the direction of lower percentages to make the planned player economy place a premium on high-percentage items.

I would agree, from everything I've seen (except for hackers) sega planned everything in the economy for a reason and took just about every possibility into account. I'm actually in awe of how well this system works.

Well I've synthed a lot of 23 % darkness 2 star dagger tho... guess percentages are more diversed...

Not true, theres also 40 & 60. Ive gotten 40 on single & twin sabers & 60 on knuckles. In fact, the only synth %s Ive seen (not counting store bought ones) are: 20, 30, 40, & 60. The odd #s like 19, 22, etc. Ive found in stores.

We are referring to online where the cap is 50%.

If there is an odd %, it had to either drop or come from a shop. Sure you aren't confused with 23% ice 2* twin daggers?

Being weighted in one direction or another does not mean that streaks will not happen, good or bad. Quite possibly you discovered that the system is weighted toward a certain percentage on certain items of certain value. I have seen synth rates that look weird, but probably balance out in the end. Quite a few of my 4-star twin daggers that I synthed have elemental rates over 20%. One even went to 50% and it quickly became my pride and joy.

Still, with a "random" system, streaks happen and weird activity that actually occurrs will seem out of proportion with what is supposed to happen. In other words: Random means exactly that.

Online is maxed at 50? Damn shame. Offline, check out what I got (in a row) on my Newman Force:

1) 40% Fire Dagger
2) 60% Ice Dagger
3) 80% Dark Dagger (Yes, I said 80%)

These are all legit, I guarantee you that. Im just shocked that not only did I get such high #s, I made 3 successfully in a row. That NEVER happened to me before!

After that, I made a 40% light dagger. So its very random. Shame that online has a certain cap right now. Im sure with future updates it will go up. If not, we should rally that as Id like to be able to enjoy high %s online as well (when I get there).

Offline mode is much easier than online http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif It's not very hard to get things that would other wise seem like hacks online.

I wouldnt say its easy to get them offline. The 60 & 80 ones were pure dumb luck. I have to constantly reset just to get a regular 40 that I want. I figure 40 & up Im fine. 40's just a pain in the ass to get tho. Damn game always wants to give me 20! Grrr. Still, heres to the hope they raise the cap online in the future.

Raising the cap? It'd only aid hackers. Really, it'd be broken if people could just double their ATP using weapons with perfect percentages, like on PSO v2. With the best Rainbow units it's gonna be worse, heh.
