How do you PM & even tell that you've been PM'd in these for

I always see peeps saying to PM me with offers, but yet after looking around these forums for weeks now , I've still yet to find out how to PM someone. Also, how can you check if you got a PM ? please help

They are really nice.
Not many people know that they can change quite a few setting on this site...
Like the colour theme, banner, posts/topics per page etc
