Anyone on PSOW a huge Anberlin fan? Did any of the following by their new CD, Cities? If so, welcome to this thread! I'm extremely disappointed with this CD, and I need to know if there are others like me or if I'm crazy. When the single Godspeed was released, I was so psyched for this CD. Turns out to be Godspeed was when of the very few good songs. This CD is overwhelming with acoustic/light songs. Sure the previous CDs had those, but it was one or two at most, and they were GOOD. iTunes classifies this CD as "emo" http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_nono.gif Readyfuels was good, Never Take Friendship Personal was amazing, and Cities broke my heart http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Godspeed is still a great song.
A Whisper & a Clamor, and Alexithymia are pretty good
But the rest? http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_disapprove.gif

Ehhh...

Their first two albums were quite solid. Never Take Friendship Personal was a great album. I don't recall any 'bad' songs there. I'm really not seeing why everybody liked Godspeed so much though. One of those really addictive heavy alt rock groups that can be listened to over and over.

I really love the depth of the band's lead vocalist though. Well. Stephen Christian seems to be able to take on a few other personalities. He's got his own side project releasing stuff by himself as a blues guitarist. In addition to that, the guy's somewhat of a modern philosopher.

He seems so calm by himself, and yet leads Anberlin, somewhat aggresive, but lyrical and such. It's a whole mess of organized chaos.

Downloaded Cities two weeks ago, going to buy hard copy sometime. I really hate it when they release stuff, and then add in a special edition with bonus tracks and such. >_>; The special ed. of Cities has inverted artwork, additional songs and dvd and such. :c

Oh, and just for kicks.

I'm excited.

Omg I'm gonna shoot you.
I have a ticket to that concert.
Mom won't let me go.
ARGGGGGGggggggggghhhh

I saw them during the Take Action Tour with Sugarcult, Melee, and Hawthrone Heights
At the downtown with Saosin and Acceptance
and at the Avalon with Emery, the Classic Crime, and some opening band I missed.

I completely forgot about the concert fiasco...way to bring it up again http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif

Dude. You saw them thrice. >_>;

And the opener with Emery was probably The Fold. I wouldn't have minded Emery, Anberlin and The Fold in one night. All pretty good bands from Tooth & Nail. Acceptance is also in their similiar genres. and such.

I'm probably taking this further and further off topic, but whatever. First time, Saosin was only moderately big. They had a show around here in August. Really small venue called the Knitting Factory. 11/25, they came back to NY, at Webster Hall, the biggest of the 'clubs' in the city. I didn't get to go then, sold out. Next time they come back... Nassau Coliseum, Taste of Chaos. Those kids got popular quite fast.

Better question. Why buy tickets if you can't go? It would be awkward to bump into a psow member there, but o_O;

Good friend was getting a load of tickets, called me up and I told him to get me one and I gave him the $.

The Fold sounds right http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif
and http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_wacko.gif:wacko: meeting in the pit would be more awkard

Hm.. I wonder how their song line up is gonna go with all the lighter songs from Cities

(Watch this turn into a PM thread if others don't post...)

hot shizzlenuts.

Stephen Christian signed my copy of Never Take Friendship Personal. Totally worth the ten minutes standing in the cold, by the bus. The pit was fucking insane. Crowdsurfers went crazy. We threw at least 35-40 people onstage, just making cycles, jumping onstage, running back, comming to the crowd, getting lifted onstage again, etc.

And I got a bunch of stuff. About $60 of clothing. Yeah. I shouldn't but hell, cool stuff. By the time I got around to the store, they ran out of anberlin hoodies. ended up getting a bayside hoodie. o.o;;
as much as i dislike Cities' album art, it looks good on a hoodie. And that's not available anywhere online. >_>; Meh, I'm done rambling.

somewhat on topic, Cities is a good album. Albeit, not as lyrically deep, or as many angular and aggressive guitars as Never Take Friendship Personal, but ehh. it's going somewhere. Might be the fact that it's only out for a bit more than a week. It'll sink in eventually.

Actually I really like Cities. I haven't listened to it as much as I have Never Take Friendship Personal, of course, and the torrent I downloaded was randomly missing two songs for some reason. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif I do like it, though, and I'm sure it'll only continue to grow on me.

I'd be way more stoked to see Emery and Saosin than Anberlin; not that Anberlin's not good, but Saosin's more my jam. From what I've heard off of Cities, I like; although I really like Readyfuels so we'll see if Cities will make the test of longevity on my playlists.
