I've been enjoying PSU offline, and one thing in particular has been on my mind in considering the shift from offline to online play: in offline mode, I abused Megistar constantly, probably even more with my Hunter than my Forces. I know that in online mode, access to technics is more restricted, so I've been considering whether Megistarides would be worth it for any non-technic-using characters I play when I don't have a support caster to provide at least my Shifta and Zodial. I see that Agtarides and Zodiarides are a measly 150mst a pop in NPC stores, but I didn't see a price on Megistarides; I just see that they require one-tenth of a [B]Megistaride's production capacity, five Hustle Berries, and a Poison Truffle (or something like that). What I don't know is how much these ingredients cost. I also don't know if they do more damage online than offline; offline, the HP loss was never more than a minor annoyance at worst.

So what I'm wondering is... How much do Megistarides generally cost, and between the total cash and HP costs, are they worth it as a regular means of staying buffed?

I make my own megistarides using the numerous board and ingredient drops I get from missions. Hustle berries are ridiculously expensive in player shops (at least, they are on the PC/PS2 servers) but poison truffles are easy to find from 10-100 meseta a pop. Megistaride boards are seen as an annoyance and you'll find those for relatively low prices in shops as well. That's only if you don't get many as drops.

At my current level (as Fortefighter) the HP loss doesn't bother me much. After the HP is taken away, I pop a trimate and the buffs remain for minutes afterwards. I use them on a regular basis when I solo. I also use the other buff items individually, but when I'm in the middle of fighting and it wears, I'd prefer to pop in one item and get all the buffs back. I think their strength is equivalent to a level 11-20 Shifta/Zodial/Deband/Retier online.

if you're on PS2/PC, I'll give you 5 megistarides and you can see how effective they are for yourself. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif I'm usually on as "Sarin", my Fortefighter, and in Universe 02 Raffon Field Base, soloing. Remember, save all hustle berries, poison truffles and megistaride boards you find in missions!

I have a male beast Forte Type. Megiastrides are pretty godly. The only problem is restocking if you plan to do a lot of runs. They last about 180 seconds, which will get you most of the way through a block.

Still, that's up to 4 per mission, with no easy way to restock unless you "grow your own"

You should also keep in mind that Beast and Casts will have ALL status effects removed when they activate thier special ability. This means you have to time your Megiastride using accordingly if you chose on of these races.

180 seconds is longer than my Megistar tends to last offline. Good to hear the effect as a whole remains every bit as useful and then some, and that at least the poison truffles and the boards aren't hard to come by.

I appreciate the offer, Sarin, but I think I'll be all right. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_smile.gif I will be on the PS2/PC servers, though, so maybe we should play together sometime... assuming I ever get up to your level.

Solomon, my offline Hunter is a beast, and I've noticed that. http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif Terribly annoying, it is, but I've found I'm generally better off just not nanoblasting anyway--for whatever reason, I have better damage output cranking PAs in regularmode. Maybe that'll change online, though.

Incidentally, I love the mentality here. "No buffer? The solution to your problem is DRUGS! Having bad side effects? The solution is MORE DRUGS!" It's adorable and makes me giggle.

I save my nanoblast for creatures that are highly annoying - especially ones that cause negative status effects (worms, bears, etc). When I'm in ForteFighter mode, I usually save nano for things like Jarbras, as the megids and the 1/2 damage from melee weapons makes them painful.

Online is a new animal for sure. Select your race, and class wisely. I sure wish I did http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_frown.gif
