View Full Version : The Possible Meanings of Technic names...

I've done some research on what the heck all those nifty Technic names mean. I made an educated guess that many of them where Japanized English, German and some Latin words, but that some where really mangled when converted into Japano-Engrish i.e. Roman-go.

Here's what I think those strange Tech names mean...

" Zonde " a mangled JP verison of the German word Zendete : 'sparked'
(( 'zonde' : literally means "sin" or "transgress" and doesn't remotely fit as a name
for a electricity based Technic IMO. ))

"Grans" ~ german ‘Glanz’ : Shine

" Barta" from the german ' borte ' : Binding
( binding in Ice, it fits..)

" Foi " a JP mangling of Feuer: Fire
"Ban" (as in “Ban Photon”) possibly "Baan" a JP roman-go conversion of "burn"

" Diga " possible mangling of the german word
'dinge' : Things; 'mixture of things'; possibly 'Matter' Diga may be from some
other language though, none that I could find.

" Nos " possible mangling of ger. 'Nusse' : nuts or JP conversion of "Norse" ("North"?)
Nosdiga ~"nut matter" sounds bad LOL,
maybe "Nut Mixture"? LOL

'NOS' could also be a bad JP mangling of the old Latin "NOX"(Noc,Noctem) meaning
"Night" so NOS Diga (or NOX Diga) would mean "Night Matter" which does
sound like a nice transliteration.

" Megid " Possibly meant as "Armaggedon," from the name "Megiddo" an ancient hill in
Israel of historical and religious signifigance. the term "Armageddon" comes from
"Megiddo." That would make Nos Megid mean either "Norse Armaggedon" or
"Night Armaggedon."

"Zalure" Possible mangling of the german word 'Saure' : acidic or
'Zahler': payer (one whom pays for something) maybe a combo of
'Saure' and the english word 'Lure';
maybe "Acidic Lure" was meant???

" Jellen " JP mangling of the german 'Zellen': Cells ( drastically reducing the mitochondrial process in the cells of an enemy target would definitely “lower” their physical strength is maybe what’s meant? )

"Gi" from german 'Geeilt' : hasted or 'geeignet': adapted.
so Techs like "Gi Foie" would possibly be "Hasted Fire" and Gi Barta "hasted binding" or "Adapted Binding."

" Zodial": possible mangling of Jodelt : yodeled (past tense of yodel)LOL
or more likely mangling of 'Jodiert' : iodized possible transliteration
" Iodize "
(telekinetic lightning that iodizes the enemy targets' body fluids
perhaps, as well as electrocution? )

"Zoldeel: possibly mangled form of
" Jodierung " : iodination combined with the English word "Deal" ; poss. transliteration
" Deal Iodination "

"Damu"/"Dam" : possible Jp Roman-go abbreviation for "damned" or "damnation"
"Dammegid" , "Damfoie" basically would be "Armageddon of the Damned" and
"Damnation Fire"; Dambarta "Damnation binding",
Damdiga " Damnation Mixture " are possible transliterations.
" Ra " : possible JP Roman-Go version of "Raw" so Rafoie would mean " Raw Fire" and
Rabarta " Raw Binding ".
“Ray” in “Ray Photon” may mean “raw photon” or
Ray could also be a mangled abbreviation of ‘radiate”, so maybe Ray-Photon is
“Radiate Coldness Photon”?

"Shifta" : JP roman-go version of 'Shift'.

" Deband " : possibly JP roman-go combination of abbreviations for "Defense" shortened to "DE"
and attached to "BAND" i.e. a kind of ringlet (like a rubber band) "Defense Band" became " Deband".

"Resta" : JP roman-go version of 'Rest.'

"Megistar" : " Megid + 'Star' possible transliteration "Armageddon Star"?

"Rentis" : Render abbrev. as "Ren" Tisu ~ tease? Teas? or a mangling of the German word
'Rentieren': worthwhile or
' rentenfähiges' : retire maybe "Rentis" is meant as "Retire"? Or just "Worthwhile Healing"???

"Regrant" : abbrev. of Render just using "RE" and Grant(s) is a mangling of the german word "Glanz" {Shine} " Render Shine" is the closest translation/transliteration I think.

"Megiverse " : Abrrev of Megid/Megiddo combined with 'verse' "Verse of Armaggedon" perhaps?

"Retier" : RE ~ possible abbreviatiom for 'Render' or 'Return',
Tier: Row, Level ; was seemingly combined.
"Return Levels" is a possible translation.

"Reverser" " JP roman-go for "Reverse" (as in reverse someone from being infected I suppose.)

Actually the TECHNICs are written in the language known as Palmalatin. It is an ancient language from the old PS games primarily spoken on the planets Palma and Motavia in the Algol Star System.

You can learn how to speak Palmalatin here http://members.tripod.com/~rak1/BAinfo/dictionary.html

The only problem with direct Palmalatin to English conversions is the truncation of words due to the limitations of the 16-bit video game era.

Other than that it synchs up fairly well.

It could be taken that way or taken as quick as a stone (a contradition as stones hardly move very quickly!). http://www.pso-world.com/images/phpbb/icons/smiles/icon_razz.gif Both make sense in a wierd way!
